She's looking good. Nice colour choice. I bought one of these last year and it's the nicest plane I've ever owned. I wasn't quite as keen as you though, I purchased mine already painted (the lazy way).
I remember reading in the manual that the way they paint the airframe negatively in the mould saves about 1 kg in the final weight so be mindful of that when choosing a motor. Depending on what you want it to do, I've found that the DA100 with cannisters has been the way to go if you want it to be an unliminted aerobat. I to have the 3W 75 but have that in a 28% Carden Extra. Having flown the Com-ARF 2.6 for quite some time now I really don't think you'll get the full potential out of yours with your 75. All constructed and RTF, mine weighed in at 13.7 kg (approx. 30lbs). However I did go for reliability over weight saving and set it up with dual everything. |

I'd also look into the Kroma 100 or the BME 115. I've heard great things about how both engines run and not only are they lighter than the DA 100, but also produce more top end power.
However, the DA 100 is also an excellent choice and I fly with a guy who has one on cans in his DR Hobbies Extra, which is the same plane with a few things different. |

I have seen one set up with an MVVS 116. Pulled like a rocket but he had alot of dramas when things went wrong with it over the warranty. I think they ended up telling him that he hadn't been running it with oil in the fuel to try and get out of fixing/replacing it and to the best of my knowledge it's been a number of months now and he still hasn't got it back.
Another good combo is a 3W 106 or the older 100 version. Powerful engines with reliability and good warraty back up. Last edited by Dean Allison; 01-22-2007 at 05:59 AM. |
