i have owned my kit for about 2-3 months, just finished it and maidened it this past weekend. i had never put the plane together until that day. all my setup work was done on the bench. on the day of the maiden i find out the wings are not edge wings. i think when they ARC'd it someone mistakenly grabbed 39% extra wing cores instead of 39% edge cores ( but i don't know that for sure) and built those to the fuse. trying to get it worked out w/ aeroworks right now. if i can help out let me know. i have owned about 7 of these edges and believe they are the best
good luck w/ yours
steve

Needsome advise on the engine installed. Basically getting the right off-set to the left of the firewall, as the firewall already has the thrust build in. Also noticed the the cowl also has this moulded in (right thrust on the nose),so would imagine that the cowl would have to be mounted square on the fuz and and the engine offset to the left. Its this measurement that's doing my head in a bit.

Any advise at this stage would be appreciated.

gary here's how i do mine.( you don't have to make a cowl ring) i don't mount the cowl to the fuse i make a cowl ring by tracing the shape of the F1 former and glueing it to the cowl. i leave about 1/4 -1/2" hanging past the cowl ring so that it hangs over the hatch and fuse side. then i drill for the mounting bolts and install blind nuts or screwserts and that's how i fasten the cowl to the plane.
this is how i mount my motor ( i have the jig already made up that i use) lay your motor on a piece of 1/4" plywood and trace the outline of the mount onto the wood. also mark your bolt holes on the wood. remove your engine and cut out the template you just drew. then drill some small pilot holes in the center of the 4 bolt holes you marked. In the center of the template drill a hole to accept a 1/4x20 blind nut. install the blind nut on one side of the template. from another piece of 1/4 ply cut a piece about 6" long and 1 &1/2" wide. drill a 1/4' hole in the center of this piece. you will need a 1/4x20 bolt (about 1&1/2 -2" long)also. now lay your motorback on the template you just cut out with the flange of the blind nut facing up towards you. take some wood screws and fasten the motor to the template. you will need to make sure the wood screws don't protrude through the wood. if they do cut whatever is protruding off flush. now i use a 2 " hole saw and cut a hole in the center of the firewall. i would normally hole saw the motor box to lighten it up anyway so this serves double duty. now with my left hand i hold the motor (screwed to template) against the firewall, with my right hand i take the 6"x1&1/2" piece of wood with the 1/4 x20 bolt in it and reach behind the firewall and start the bolt into the blind nut that you previously installed in the wood template. align the motor the best you can by eyeballing it and tighten the bolt. be sure the bolt doesn't bottom out on the back of the motor or the motor won't be tight against the firewall. if you can picture this your basically pinching the firewall w/ thetemplate on one side and the 1/4x20 bolt through a piece of wood on the other. then you can attach your cowl and check for alignment. if it;s off just loosen the 1/4x20 bolt and scoot the motor until it does line up. once it lines up i remove what would be the 2'oclock wood screw and the 8 o'clock wood screw and use a piece of 4-40 rod with the tip dipped in paint and insert it into the holes to mark the bolt locations. remove the whole assembly and drill your holes. it should beasy to mark the remaining 2 bolt holes w/ the motor bolted to the firewall. on the AW edge the left side (from cockpit) plug boot will stick out of the cowl slightly. in this pic you can see i made covers out of .25 size glow wheel pants that were sanded to fit. i know this is alot of reading but it's very simple and foolproof.

i re-read thsi a few times let me know if i missed something
