Very hard to tow a Rudder and elevator only glider. If you have a glider with ailerons try it with that, it will be much easier to keep the glider in the right position during the tow. You will also find they will not kite around like the 2 channel glider.

Nice job on not crashing though.

cool videos smokenkat, im surprise you havent towed with the husky yet, a 2.6 meter scale glider would be a good match. sadly i wont have the chance to tow with mine..

Maidened my H Model 4.8m Dg 600 behind my Model Tech J3 Cub today, all went well, it was a very scale match, only got 1 launch due to weather, but hope to get some more tomorrow, very cool!

Aero-towing is bad ass! Here are some shots from today! For tow planes, we have a box-style design called the Pegasus on a 3W 120, as well as this Pilatus on DA85 power.

I got to do some more tows with the DG 600 yesterday, first up I swapped the DA-50 off run in fuel over to synthetic oil, gave the needles a bit of a tweek, that gave some more performance to the big Cub. This time I set thermal flap on the glider for the tow, this made a huge difference, it was in the air almost immediately, plus with the bit of extra performance of the tug, gave a lot better climb.
1st flight was only about 4 minutes, just getting used to the handling, 2nd flight I thought was going to be over just as quick, the air just seemed dead, then whilst in the landing circuit at about 100ft, the wing just kicked up slightly, so I turned in in a tentitive circle, was not going up, but not going down, then got it centred, 10 minutes later I was at about 1000ft, AWESOME!!!!

For the 3rd tow, I removed the long tips, put on the short curved up tips, this brings the span from 4.8m to 4m, did not go looking for lift, just towed up to about 700ft, let the tug land, then got into some areo's and a screamming beat up, nothing like seeing a sailplane about 10ft off the ground going nice and fast..

All up, great day, starting to get the feel of this aerotow business, lots of fun.
