Did some aero towing today. We dragged out the diablo tug and a Salto 4.3m. Conditions we not great but there was some lift around the mostly overcast sky. Got a few tows in before the wind and showers closed in.

Hopefully the forecast for sunday is correct and we can get some quality flying in good conditions. Seems we finally solved the exhaust issue with the diablo, we keeped breaking header pipes after 2-3 flights. So we changed the canister mount and the coupler and so far so good after 4 flights.

Some pics of the tug and glider Sorry about the quality as they were taken with my phone.

Is there anyone or a group doing this stuff in the Sydney NSW basin? I have a Minimoa and a tug, live on the South side of Sydney and know only a few locals with a similar interest. It is probably a bit hard to fly the tug and the glider at the same time. Up to release should be OK but my eyes are possibly not up to similtainiously tracking both models lateraly and verticaly while landing the tug and I'm not sure if my brain power will cope either. This activity looks to be something which is best shared with other people of like interest. Preferably these people are Mode 2 flyers and enjoy the occasional amber and red fluid.

I will be moving to Newcastle early next year, would be happy to travel every now and again to do some towing. I'll need a tug and tug pilot when I finish my woodstock build. I believe the rebel flying club is into aero towing and gliders in general.

Thanks Rusty,

It is about 2.5 hours drive from Newcastle to the South end of Sydney. The worst part is accross the city from Hornsby to Heathcote, which takes about one hour. There was to be a scale aerotowing day this Sunday at Maddens Plains. Sadly it has been cancelled due to lack of interest.

Very nice Randy I wish the shipping costs were good enough to get one into Australia at a reasonable price. Always liked the turbo porter.
