The brass peice that slides over the tail rotor shaft and into the yoke backed out, and whala! No tail control. I'll put it in a Haiku:
A piroetting pile- The parts plumet into ground To the bench I go. I think it was over tightend, the shaft was well lubed. I'm just a little bummed right now. |

Hey that could be a new jargon word for a crash because of no tail rotor.
"I Haiku'ed it man!" "My tail went out and it Haiku'ed" "Damn, if he keeps goin with those low tic-tocs he gunna end up with a Haiku" Sorry for the loss, atleast helis have another chance to live (pending funds) |

Ouch, Don't do that.
I didn't like that nut on either the Stinger or the Raptor, I used red loctite on mine, so far so good. I had mine come apart once and was very lucky to auto it down in one piece. |

Well it was an arf, and all the head screws and tail screws were loctited, I assumed this would have been too. 3 times in the ground due to parts failing.....I'm not going to repair this ship. I have a N9 on order.

Arfs are a tough deal... you almost have to tear them clear down and see what all was not dont right. No matter what heli it is, its gonna want to shake itself loose every time it flys.
best to build up form kit form imo. |

I couldn't agree more. I went over 90% percent of it, and the 10% that I didn't bit me in the arse. Oh well. Onward and upward

I do believe that's the first time I've ever seen the word "haiku" in a heli thread. Good stuff

Keith, Sorry about the loss. It is a good lesson to all to double check everything on an ARF Machine.
I did add the term Duffed to the Giant Jargon dictionary. |

That sucks big time man! Crashes are no fun, and when a part fails it's twice as annoying.... unfortunately it happens. At least ya got some good carnage pics for the photo album

I'll just chime in here and agree with everyone who said that arf's need to be taken apart and reassembled......My number one rule in heli's is not to trust someone else's assemblies
