Default Header Tanks

Have been flying my Raptor .30 without a header tank....

what is recommended for them? i see alot of different tanks available, some of them seem to have mounts.... They have anything that is good, cheap, and easy to install into a raptor 30/50 V1?

I put one on my Raptor 30 V2 after an unexpected deadstick in a stall turn

I got one similar to this: http://www4.mailordercentral.com/hel...?number=801649

I don't know if the V1 frame has this or not, but the V2 frame had an unused screwpost on the right side just above the main tank. I screwed it to this post, added the extra plumbing, and it's been working great ever since. Hope this helps...

They all pretty much work, as long as it provides a consistent flow of fuel to the carb its all good

Installed my header tank.... now i think im going to take it right back off.....

Threw my heli out of balance making it tail heavy, it wants to come backwards in a hover... it didn't do that before....

any other suggestions? any better place to mount it?

I could trim it out with 4 or 5 clicks of forward trim, but won't that screw me up when i flip inverted?

Did you actually check your CG?
That header tank is located so close to the CG that it should not make that much difference.
When you get ready to flip to inverted you are going to want that header tank there anyhow.
Most raptors with the tail servo mounted up front are nose heavy, unless you run a small battery pack.
All of mine have the tail servo mounted on the boom and still need lead on the tail.

You want to set your CG right on the main shaft with full fuel, that way the CG will move forward as the fuel burns off. Once you start getting into inverted then reset the CG to the main shaft with a half tank.

To check the CG hold the heli by the head and tip it sideways, The heavy end will drop down.

I would leave the header there and adjust the cg to be correct and then trim it out.

I found my problem. Im an idiot, that's my problem Not sure how i did it, but i bent a link at some point and my swashplate wasn't level any longer.... that's why it wanted to drift backwards in a hover.

In the front i run a 2000mah 2S lipo with a 6V regulator, it's about 1.2 ounces lighter than the 1200 nimh pack setup i had, but balancing on the flybar shows a bit noseheavy, and the nose rotates down when i hold it sideways by the head.

I'll get the swashplate back to level again and go out to the field today and get it inverted and see if she wants to drift in an inverted hover and adjust from there, i might have to add a little wieght to the tail actually... again thanks for the help

Glad you found it.
If you get the CG right on the main shaft you will find the the trim is the same for both upright and inverted and the heli just feels better.
