HOW exactly does changing paddles effect the heli? does lighter paddles make it respond only faster? or does it change the load on the disk?
Basically looking at ways to get my R30 to flip a little bit faster. What aftermarket and inexpensive paddles offer the best performance increase? |

Hmmm I'm not 100% is the TT Greenies will work for raptor 30s... I believe they will since they're basically the same helis...
they do come in other colors besides green. They are basically 20g paddles that really increase cylic response Here's the set I'm talking about... http://www.onlyraptors.com/new_morei...0482&x=48&y=10 not to mention they are cheap! |

oh yeah and to answer your question yes it makes the heli respond faster... which also means you lose some stability... I changed to the 20g ones and enjoyed every minute of it... that is until I crashed.

does it change the load on the rotor disk in any way? .30's struggle as it is, just want to know what im getting into if i increase cyclic response. If it's going to take away energy from the blades faster, slower or not affect them in most manuvers.

yes they change the load. anything you put on the head that swings with it will affect the head and its energy. Green ones are fine for a 30.

I think your question has been answered already, when I removed the weights from my paddles the helicopter really livened up - at the expense of some stability.

Just want to fully understand what im getting into. I know what it does now, just not exactly how. Might be a simple part of the helicopter theory im missing here.... just trying to fill in the blanks

Basically since you have heavier paddles (or weights) at the end of a spinning object... it takes more "throw" to get the paddles where they are going. With out the heavier paddles or weights the servo has less to "fight" with so in return the heli will respond much faster. Thats why with the micros alot of people like to add weights to the end of the flybars to slow down the cylic since the diameter is smaller it takes less inputs to get it where you want it to go. Take them off and you can go crazy..
Try it out, the TTs are only like $12 or so... fly a round with the black ones (I think they're either 25 or 30g) then throw on the 20g and you'll be able to "feel" the difference
