Default Raptor 50 Titan Maiden Flight!!!

Ok guys I finaly got to maiden my raptor 50 today,,, and I only flew for about 5 minutes or so,,,it still need to be trimmed but I almost lost it due to the fail Safe,,or maybe I should say I didn't loose it due to the Fail Safe..
while I was still trying to trim it foreward it sudennly I didn't have it I kept pushing the elevator foreward and it kept comming back towars me,, and I was like ooo Shi#@!@ I don';t have it for a few seconds 'til I got it back and I had the elevator stick all the way foreward when I got it back so it went very hard 90deg nose in and then I got it back level and I sat it down,,, it was very scary scene,, 2 feet lower and I would still be picking up peaces from the ground.

Now I'm not sure why it locked out,,,I got a brand new Futaba 148DP PCM Receiver and I installed a Deans antena in it,,same spot and place as my firends Raptor 50 same setup same everything but he flys JR Radio,,,,I wonder if the Futaba is more sensitive to noise or something .
I have never had any problem with any of m futaba staff and I wouldn't like to change for any reason,,,but now I'm thinking it had something to do with the way I have my antena on the hlei, it's right inside the canopy I bent it back comming from where the RX and battery compartment is.
tha'st the only think I can think of could have had something to do with it.

ohh I did Range checked and it did good,,before and After i flew so it's not Range Problem.

any ideas????

ohhm y setup is

Raptor 50 titan
Os 50
401 gy and all futaba 9254 servo and all the other futaba s9451,,I wonder if this servos could have lock down for a while????? everything was working right right after I laded it!!!

I just test flew it today with a JR 1100 mah battery 4.8 'til I get the fromeco staff!!!

I use revolution whip antenna's on my heli's with Futaba receivers and never have a problem. I have the antennas inside the canopy too, but the base of the antenna has to be at least an inch or so away from the receiver....

Glad you didn't have to take home a bag of parts!

Since it is a new heli, go back over everything and check for loose screws or anything rubbing that shouldn't be.

An 1100 pack is kind of small for 5 digital servos but still should not have given a problem that soon into the flight unless there was something wrong with the pack.

well I thouch so about the battery too but it's sopoused o be a brand new pack and I recyle it before flying it it's a temporary pack ' til I get my Arizona regulator on Monday.

I heard from other guys that JR RX can use a Deans antena on their PCM RX on an heli but not the futaba ones. but....I have been using the PCM RX that came with my 9Z WCII Radio on a Gasser 28% plane anf for 2 years now I have never had a problem with it and I also using the deans antena on it.

I think it might be due to vibration I know futaba it's pretty sensitive to vibration si I may try to install the RX a little bit better si I don't get any vibration and move the antena somewhere in the back of the heli so I don't have all the left over antena wire arround the battery and RX I really didn't like that since the beginin but my friend has that setup and no problems so far for him.

I really like the Deans antena instead of all the wire that comes with stock RX. I think next tim I'll try fly the heli a little bit higher so I may have a chance to get it back if it locks out again if it does I'm switching to JR

Hi l also have a Raptor Titan 50, my receiver is wraped in foam to protect it from any vibration , l also run my aerial in a plastic tube which is supported on the tail boom brace do not have any problems, when you do a range check how far do you move away from your heli with aerial down on TX, if every thing is fine with that you may have to inspect the heli further , My RX pack battery is 1700 Mah nicad pack, hope you solve your problem , happy flying....

IO have range check the way it' sopoused to be done,,,walked away about 100ft with antena down and it's was fine.

I think it mush have been due to the RX was too tight on the Frame of the heli and the deans arround the RX pack and RX''IU'll have to change all that and fly it again and see what happens!!!!

Ok I finnaly got the Arizona regulator and the li-ion battery Yesterday and I got to maiden it again today,,,this time I didn't get any lock out so I guess it was due to the RX being too tight on the frmae and the battery on top and the antena to close to it.

I have moved the antena all the way back and I glued th RX on top of Foam so it pretty much floats in there,,,of coure I got heat shrink arround the RX so I could glue it.

Man today I really did have some fun I Hover my first tank of gas then on my second I got brave and I started flying arround doing 8 and on my 3rd tank I did a fewe loops and a few autos to get used to it,,I like it a lot!!!!

Now i can't wait 'til tomorrow to fly her again!!!!

Now I'm still using a friend's Started shaft and I have been looking a some starters with the one way shaft,,,,what should I get???? and where???? I did get a 6mm breanch and put in on my drill but it didn't work so I guess I'm gonna have to spend the $$$ an buy a real one!!!!!

here are somep Pics!!!! I'm on the Right and my friend DOC it's the ugly one!!!
