Default Givin' me the NOD

G'day,
Finally getting around to aerial ballet, or just chuckin' it around.
I thought a few upgrades to the Rappy 50 (V2) were in order.
Running with what should have been fairly straight forward upgrade... wasn't!
Upgraded to SAB 600mm Main Blades, SAB Tail Rotors & Alloy Grips (cause I had them), Dropped in the RED Dampers & screwed on a set of Quick UK Green Paddles. RPM is around 1700.
Popped the Heli into a Hover and it was Nodding like one of those little dogs you see on the back parcel tray of cars . It didn't stop until I got it out of Medium Forward Flight. Backwards Flips looked like a fast forward of a Mark Fadely Loop (XFC 2005), the tail came around but seemed very very notchy. Bringing it back in made me look like my thumbs were shivering.
Would an Alloy Head Block help???
It seems that having done what may be seen as Standard 3D mods ended up giving me too stiff a head.
Can anyone suggest a good starting setup for 3D, mostly for a good Flip Rate and to just tighten things up a bit. I don't mind a bit of nodding in the Hover but not keen on it in Forward Flight.

Your headspeed is to slow for your setup.
For 3D the rappy is happiest at 2000.
With your setup you should not be running under1800 or you will get exactly what you are describing.
The low headspeed also makes the tail rotor a lot less effective.

My suggestion would be to setup for 1800 in normal 1900 in idle 1 and 2000 in idle 2. From there you will be able to tell what you like.

The Aluminum head block is almost necessary for 3D, I have seen too many plastic ones break in the air. The plastic is fine for basic aerobatics but keep the Head speed to 1900 max with the plastic head block.

Hi Guys,
Flew it on the weekend, as you should.
Turned on the new GV1 and wound it to 1800RPM. I found that the NOD all but disappeared. It was a bit more noticable in inverted hover but I have more upgrades ie.Hatori Pipe on the way. I also have to fine tune Pitch and GV1 settings a little before upping the RPM. The Quick UK Metal Head seems to have made a huge difference also.
Yes, I did grease my shaft.
Thanks for your help with this.

push that thing to 2000 in idle up, 17 to 1800 is ok for normal but you want those babies hummin' in idle up.

That's great news! A little tweak here and there is the difference between a heli acting like a rattle trap or a caddy
