How much payload capability does a 450 have for use as an AP (aerial photography) platform in the following configurations?
a) stock (preferred) b) flat blades and altered gear ratio Can it handle 11oz? I'm thinking a 600 is the only option, but I'd like to give the 450 a try. |

Usually a helicopter can lift about it's own weight. 1/2 of that should give you some performance to get out of a tight spot. 11oz isn't a whole lot of weight & the 450 and especially batteries and charger are much cheaper. On the other the 450 will get really small quick.... where you can see the 600 from greater distances.

The Trex 450 actually makes a very good aerial platform, a light mount and small digital camera works very well.
I have made a couple of custom mounts that are working very well. You'll be surprised how little altitude you really need. |
