Default JR 8411SA servos

Ok guys,

I have a question; I have a 50cc AW 260 QB and several JR 8411SA servos. Are they enough on 6v for all the surfaces except the rudder? I plan to put a 8611A on the rudder....

Let’s hear all your opinions and experience. ????

I have been running 8411's in my 50cc birds for a while with no problems. Unless I am mistaken the 8411sa's are plastic geared servos, and I don't think I would trust them on the control surfaces for anything other than mild scale flight.

I have been running the SA servo on my 50cc yak ailerons. No problems at all.

The gear set on them is plastic......They should be fine for 50cc.

I've got one on my throttle for my 42%

It does have a metal output gear.

fyi, 8411 and 8611 both have a plastic gear on the #1 spot. Futaba 9206 and 9204 have plastic on the #1 and #2 gear. 9151 is all plastic. all of these servos work great on 50cc planes even with 3d throws. The only time have have seen gears brake on these servos is when the plane hits the ground hard.

I am sorry but I do not agree - I will not even use non metal gear servos on a funtana 90 type plane - this said all metal gear servos have a plastic gear 1 (or most)- this is not where the stresses lie - had a long discussion about it with Mike Mayberry the Hitec technical guy - metal gear digital servos have become so cheap that its almost stupid not to use them in 3d planes - my opinion!!

On the throttle? Wow, is that because of its outstanding availability to you? Is that not a little over kill and heavy

No it's not a trick question Dennis

I really wanted to see what others had to say.

I've used the 8411SA for a long time in things like a U-Can-Do

NEVER any problems until the pots get nasty. Never a gear problem..........

So as I said I wanted to see what others have used them on.........

One thing for sure they save weight.......

On my toc1/ebay yak I ran Futaba 9151 servos (ailerons) the plane was only used for 3d. It even had a flat spin landing and it neve broke a servo gear in all its flights. Sold the plane and the servos are still good.

On my new Ultra RC yak I have 8411SA. I only have 15 flights on it but it is fine. But now that I said this it will probably break next time out.

dude thats true in many cases - but its me that says I will not do it - why? because i have seen to many planes flutter to death or loose control only to see that a $30 dollar servo took out a $2000+ plane - so for me, I use metal gears - infact I am trying to justify using titanuim gears only!!

Of course I had an extra 8411sa laying around but I almost almost always use a fast digital on throttle. One thing I can't stand on a large plane is lag in throttle response due to a slow servo.

And for Adrian......Last time I checked a 8411SA isn't a $30 dollar servo. It is still rated for tons of torque, more than you would ever need (or is reccommended) on a 50cc. The question by A10 wasn't what would you run but can you run a 8411sa........The answer is yes, and quite safely even at 3-D throw. Many choose not to because they feel safer with metal type gears.

As for flutter, a plastic gear servo won't cause flutter.....broken gears may, or not enough holding torque.

Nothing wrong with that servo.

Remember back to a contest called the TOC?
These servos were being used in GS planes back then.

In a 50cc plane I would have no worry.
