Default About Mounting Fuel Tanks

I was wondering, is there any reason why you shouldn't mount your fuel tank sideways in the fuse instead of parallel ? Let me hear your thoughts... Thanks !!

no, the position of the tank itself doesn't matter, but however you will just simply need to twist the stopper so that the vent is at the top of the tank.

My understanding of a clunk is that it should always fall to the low part of the tank. So in a knife edge the clunk would still be low. If the vent line is wrapped around the tank you woun't have a problem with fuel loss.

Just giving a hard time. No disrespect intended.

The only time I have ever seen a fuel line clunk next to the stopper was after a crash. The weight of the clunk will not bend the fuel line back in normal flight because the clunk will hit the side of the tank.
No disrespect intended.

When I went back and re-read the original post, I realized that I was seeing a different picture in my mind then what he was asking in the question. I was picturing a different tank orientation.

Note to self. Read slower and think longer. LOL
