Hey guys, i've been looking around at 50cc size airplanes, and stumbled over the edge 540 from fiber-lite...
I'm not necessarily on a budget, but the cheaper it is, the faster I get to fly it , and at $440 to your door, it seems like a killer deal. Anyone have any experience with these? Opinions? Thanks! http://www.fiber-lite.com/30%25%20Edge%20540.htm Specifications: * Weight: 15 lbs. RTF with DA50 (CLICK HERE to read our comments on 'advertised' weights) * Span: 87" * Length: 81" * Wing Area: 1440 sq. in. Wing + stab area: 1650 sq. in. * Wing Loading: 24 oz / sq. ft. Wing + stab loading: 21 oz / sq. ft. Features: * Sheeted foam wings, stabs, rudder, hatch, turtledeck, and belly pan (no sticks to break) * Carbon fiber landing gear and stab tube * Lightweight fiberglass cowling, wheelpants and hatch / canopy frame * Clear canopy (carbon fiber canopies will also be available) * Removable stab halves * Airfoiled stab and rudder...no flying wires required * Full-length integrated canopy / hatch for easy internal access * Interlocking, self-jigging laser-cut parts * Laser-cut fuselage diagonal / cross bracing for a perfect fit * Double-beveled hingelines are PRE-BEVELED to allow over 100 degrees of total surface travel * Hingelines are pre-drilled for Robart hinge points * Designed to accept an internal canister muffler * Full wave tuned pipes may be used with little modification * All sheeting is edge trued and each sheet is weighed * All wood is hand-picked for quality and consistency * Composite double-truss horn set included * Highly detailed instructions with over 200 pictures for error-free construction * All kit components fabricated in the USA! Benefits: * Several POUNDS lighter than 50cc Edge ARFs with much more wing area * Design is optimized for a drop-in fit of the DA-50-R (with stock stand-offs) but other engines may be used * Fully sheeted exterior for a super-smooth appearance and easy finishing * Easily transportable...several will fit in the back of a pickup truck * Superbly engineered for super-fast, easy building and equipment installation

Hey thanks a lot for pointing this out. I am in the same boat as you are, and it looks like I just found my next plane. I am going to try to call them tomorrow and see when they will be shipping. Looks like a winner if their specs are correct.

One of the lightest 50cc class I've flown is Pacific Aero 27% Edge 540T.
It was DA50 Powered with LiPo on ignition and receiver. It was weighed on 2 separate digital scale at 13.5lb. It is 82" wing span and aroud 1150sq in wing area. It hovered at less than 1/4 throttle. http://www.pacaeromodel.com/Edge540/82Edge540T.htm |

Just looking... is this an ARF, ARC or a kit? Not real clear on what you get.

Hey guys I've seen this plane up close and it's a nice kit, also have seen it fly. The plane I saw had a da50 on it and it had plenty for 3d. I'm not a builder or I'd get one myself. I met the guy in Columbia MO at a flyin last year.

sweet little beast it is. Flew the snoot out of it today in some heavy wind. Might get me another kit to put in stock for later.
