Hi guys... a few of us up here in the Norhteast have heard rumors that there may be a noise limit or cannister rule going into effect at Joe Nall, possibly even taking place as soon as this year. I do know that Mr. Hartness takes the noise issue very seriously and is being as pro-active as possible in being "neighbor" friendly. Can anyone verify if this is true or not?
Not trying to start a guessing/rumor game here, just interested in hearing the facts as several of us around here have the Nall on our do not miss list and just want to make sure we are properly prepared if this is the case. I know that several of our local clubs have strict year round noise limitations and with giant scale gaining in popularity, I assume it won't be long before almost all of them do. Thanks, Craig |

I know John. Ron, Bob T and I were all at dinner tonight and all three of us heard it through different sources. Figured if it were taking place this year it would be on the website, but just wanted to play it safe. I think before long, everyone will be using them. Craig

I fly here in NC and know a few guys that have access to the triple tree field, I heard one of them mention that there are rumors of this happening, they want to reduce the noise as much as possible as the field and the fly-in. So I think just to be on the safe side I would use canisters if possible. Like I said I have just heard this thru the grapevine and not directly from the directors of the event.

Since you guys are considering going to cannisters. Maybe someone has an old DA100 stock muffler that they want to sell at a decent price. I broke one of my stacks and is not fixable. I dont really want to buy new ones since later on i will be switching to cannisters myself.

Sure we can install canisters or pipes in our planes but how about the warbird people?

I am not sure what the noise level will be for the Joe Nall. For the Masters the rules stated: MAXIMUM NOISE LEVEL WILL BE 94dBA, 25 FEET FROM THE DOWN WIND SIDE OF THE MODEL.
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks every thing will be posted on the www.joenall.com website. Please be patient with us, as we have had some illness in the family and Mom has not had time to get website updated. As soon as the pre registration forms are post and the noise level is posted, I will get all that posted on here. For any first time vistors coming to the Joe Nall, please remember one person in your party must be an AMA member. Any questions, please feel free to PM me and I will try to answer. Thanks, Laura |
