not at all,a 3w 50 will be tailheavy and the 60 will put it right were you need to be for imac.i have built several for friends and all come out tail heavy with a 50 in them.it is doable by just moving batterys around but a 60 will be perfect in it

That Yak is one of the larger, heavier (because of its size) 50cc planes around. It can easily handle the extra weight and probably use the extra power.

Don't know about the 3w, but a 60 is kind of an odd size. For instance a most 60's weigh about as much as an 80 so why would you buy the 60? A 50 would be much more useful in the future on other planes.

dont know on the weight of the 3w 60 but you will need more power on that plane. I have one that I flew basic with last year. Mine weighs 19.1 lbs with a DA 50, alum spar and stab tubes and 2 2400 nihms on the rx. The DA has plenty of power for 3d but when trying to draw out your lines it runs out of steam. If you do use the DA then use a 22x8 prop, no bigger. The planes do build tail heavy but you can move everything up front and will be fine, especially with the 8oz spinner.
The DA is an excellent choice and pulls it fine but you cant over prop it and watch the weight carefully. |

I had one w/DA50 @ 16.25lbs(before the crash anyway!!)it had a very light wing loading & feel to it,would do rollers almost standing still. DA50 & 16lbs is great, hovers too close to idle though, my DA50's do 3-D just fine up to 18.5 lbs so far, hover all day long!!!!! If you go with DA50, just put batts up front, CG will be a tad tail heavy(from recommended)but flys fine anyway. Yakkity Yak!!!!

If it will balance without the spinner it will not go on as I think Yaks look fine with no spinner. I am happy with the final weight because I thought to go with a canister you were essentially adding about 10 ounces. My stand offs ended up being 2 1/4 which places the prop a good inch in front of the cowl. Jerry |
