my dad got me into the hobby, helicopters exactly when I was around 8 years old. I loved it. he bought me the first one and helped with the 2nd. after that I had to work for everything else. when I decided to get into planes I bought my first plane and everything. when I wanted to try giant scale we made a deal. he bought the plane I bought everything else. at the time i thought I got the better end of the deal, no he made out great and it made me appreciate the plane more. Now that im out of college and have a good paying job, I am able to pay my dad back and buy him planes and heli kits. My mom suports my dad and I in our hobby and when I was in College I found my girlfriend who actually likes to be around the planes, she helps as much as possible, Calling for IMAC, set-up and tear down of the plane, fueling, cleaning, Etc. she just loves it and supports me just as much as my parents.

Hi,

My parents help me out a fair bit to be honest... I pay for everything myself but if I need help paying for something I need ASAP my parents will basically give me a loan if you like, which I pay back as soon as possible. I also have a paper round every week which helps pay it off ! My parents (dad) gives me a lift out every weekend to my club which I think is the best thing you can ask for at my age (14).
Anyway ive managed to get to a healthy six planes... not bad aye!

My dad pays for most of the planes I fly. They both support me, just that my mom is like my "cheering section".

my parents pay for everything. If I keep my GPA at 3.85 or above, there is no problem. In my house the rule is, if I work, they help me out, and since right now my occupation is student, I get what I want if my grades are on an A average.! Works out for me!

Well I didn't start out in the CL Days, but I did buy my first Aircore Trainer back when I first started High School. I paid for the engine, and the transmitter. The servos were a Christmas present and the rest has been paid by me. This was 8 years ago. Now through the summers of paying for college and car payments.....I managed to save money to pay for a 50cc Yak and now I'm saving for my new 41% Extra. It takes a lot of time to save enough money on the side for a hobby.

My dream is to fly professionally one day along with my music career in Nashville, but hey this is no perfect world and ideal situations don't always exist. I'm just going to keep working hard and save every penny I can instead of buying the next cool thing that comes in front of my eyes. Until then I'm gonna keep hucking my 50cc bird and practice.....practice....practice:

I get alot of support from my parents. I can't even thank them enough for everything they have done for me to be able to fly.
If it wasn't for my Dad, who took the time to teach me how to fly, I wouldn't be where I am today. And my Mom.. if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have all of the video and the pictures that I have.
My parents have to be the coolest parents for even letting me be in such a awesome hobby!!
Thank you Mom and Dad!!

Some of you guys are lucky. My dad thinks hes supportive by

1. Yelling at me when im scratch building a foamy
2. Critisize how i dont know how to buy a foamy and how every foamy i buy is weak so he starts bending it in half
3. He thinks driving me to a field thats 3-5minutes away is hard work.

I buy my own planes and electronics, but my moms getting me a used glow for my birthday in 2 months, but the thing is for my last 2 birthdays all i got was a trip to timhortons, actually my dad made me walk with my little cousin while he slept, i ended up paying too. My parents are supportive arnt they?

You are probably one of those dads that arnt strict much, and just loves to hang out, make jokes, have fun and let loose. What i would call the better ones. Your son must be proud and lucky.

My way of support was at the age of... 6 or something "look son, the plane is longer than you!" My dad has put together his first cherokee, and was never flown, before 6 years ago when i FINALY could start this beautiful hobby.

Since that it has been the "You fly son, ill repair and build!" so now im flying around with a 2meter edge 540 while he scratch building a big a$$ Cessna 206 Station air with telling me "This my son, is gonna be the biggest you ever gonna fly of model airplanes...!" And throws in a servo here and a battery there when there is a new small project for me to complete
