i did read somewhere that some were using moki's and 180 saito's with pretty good performance. there should be enough power in the moki.

I was going with the Moki but ran across an OS BGX-3500 that powers the plane with all the power it needs. I clubmember has one that he is putting a DA 50 on his so we can compare them.

With the DA 50 would go with the 27% Cap, The 260 is a bit small for the 50cc class gassers. For the H9 27% Extra, would go with a Moki 1.80 or 2.10, keep it light and theyre awesome.

I am building one with a Saito 220 on it. I had to put 16 oz of weight in the noise to get it to balance. That may be because my pilot is to heavy. I might change that with a light pilot. The plane is very easy to build. Just waitintg for the snow to melt to fly it.

That sounds excessive. With the Glow motors, Saito 220, Moki 2.10 etc you would like to keep the weight to a minimum.
With mine and a Moki 180 with bisson Pitts muffler, could get the CG spot on by moving the batery around. They fly really well when around 12lbs, adding 16oz sound stoopid. rather get a lighter pilot.

Where's your rudder servo and where is your battery? And are you trying to set the CG at their forward recommendation? No way on heck this plane should need a pound of dead weight to get the CG right, and the forward CG is too noseheavy anyway...is your pilot made of Plaster of Paris or something?

I have a Saito 220 on mine and I did not have to add any weight. Came in at 12lbs 13oz.

My rudder servo is in the plane and not at the tail. I am using the rearward point of the cg, 5 1/2" from the leading edge. My Pilot is a cut off Ken doll. The weight of the plane without adding the weight was 13.75. The battery is up next to the gas tank. Any Ideas, I am looking for a new pilot hoping that may help.

If I were to change my pilot, what would be a light weight, but realistic looking pilot to get?

Ok, I removed the pilot. He weighted 6 oz. I also removed the weight that I had for balance. The plane weights 13.80 pounds. It still balances tail heavy. But now I only have to add 5 to 6 oz to make it balance (no pilot). If the pilot weight is 4 oz (ordered a life like pilot from Chief Aircraft) I will have to add 10 oz of weight at the end of the engine box to get it to balance. Any other Ideas?

I spoke with cajun rc. The 25% weights 2.5 oz and the 30% weights 3.25 oz. I also ordered the 25%. Just playing with some small weights I still have to add 9 to 10 oz of weight with either pilot I use. This puts the plane around 14.3 to 14.5 pounds. I also have onboard glow for the engine. I dont like glow starters. I may try moving the battery for the glow closer to the front. It is right on the cg now. I am sure the engine has more than enough power, but what else can I do to get rite adding more weight?
