If the pilot weight is 4 oz (ordered a life like pilot from Chief Aircraft) I will have to add 10 oz of weight at the end of the engine box to get it to balance. Any other Ideas?

A light weight tailwheel will drastically help with the CG.

Just playing with some small weights I still have to add 9 to 10 oz of weight with either pilot I use. This puts the plane around 14.3 to 14.5 pounds. I also have onboard glow for the engine. I dont like glow starters. I may try moving the battery for the glow closer to the front. It is right on the cg now. I am sure the engine has more than enough power, but what else can I do to get rite adding more weight?
I would definitaly try moving everything I can as far forward as possible before adding "dead" weight to it. I have the 2.20 on it and come in around 12lbs 10 oz now. I added light wheels and axles along with a lightweight tailwheel. Move the batteries forward and try a lightweight tailwheel. What servos do you have in the tail for the elevators?

Guys,

I also have a DA 50 in mine and it balances fine!

I'm also using Xoar Props and they work great! 23 X 8!

Cheers!

Hey guys, as mine nears completion I've noticed a curious problem.

When I go to full down ele, and then apply full rudder(either way), the rudder control bolt locks the ele in full down position, and I have to centre rudder to get the ele back up. Anyone else had this, know of a cure????

Shorten the bolt?
you using the Pull Pull on the rudder or the servo mounted in the rear?
Probably dont need that much rudder throw on this plane.
Havnt had problems with mine.

Hi gus, I thought about shortening the bolt, but I'll have to shorten it a long way(over 6mm either end). It is closed loop(glow engine) and I'm a bit of a sucker for lots of rudder movement, I'm firmly in the "too much is never enough" camp at first and then tone it down later. I'll go get the dremel out

Mine has DA50 JR heavy duty switches Fromeco batts and regs JR8411's throughout
except for throttle, used recomended 3" standoffs and all included hardware and gear Menz 23 x 8 prop. The landing gear will open up a little at the corners with hard landings but this is the only proplem I have had with kit components. It flies way better than I can at this point. Way over powered and WAY TOO FUN. !!!
No weight was added to balance at all.

I'll be using the stock stuff, but I'm replacing the bolts that pass through the ball-links for longer ones. IF, of course, I can find a reasonable supplier of 4-40 bolts in this bloody country.

Haven't had time to look yet quite how far I am from the rudder surface but it's more than 11/16ths as I've got a 3" arm instead of a 2.5. But I will get the cutter on it and hopefully clear the prob.

One more thought, how solid are the crimps for closed loop supplied with the kit, I can't get the wire through a 3rd time, and I'm more than a little concerned about only going through twice
