Why not? The stock stuff that comes with the plane is not that bad, you just have to make sure you use thread locker on all the metal screws and bolts - no worries

It finally happened today. The counter balance on the rudder came off in a ke pass. Nothing a bit of cyno and tape couldn't fix.
Running a moki 180 and 18x8 prop on 8020 fuel. Gets about 8500 rpm on the ground but unloads quite a bit in the air.

I just started this bird. I am going with the Saito 220. I figure it will be fun to keep it light and I already had the 220 from another project.

I thought I'd chip in with my electric setup for this plane as I'm very pleased with it, and its simple to replicate. The airframe is built totally stock, and it balances spot on with no added weight or weird install procedure.

Hacker A60-18L
Standard hacker mount on 2 x small hardwood spacers
APC-E 24x12
Turnigy 100a HV esc
2 x 6S3000 20-30c Turnigy packs, for 12s 3000

I used a tru-turn style alloy spinner, as it just helped the CG, but mostly because I already had it. I built a very simple battery tray out of lite-ply to extend the motor box inside the fuse, and removed the throttle servo tray. The esc mounts under the motor box, and I cut a good opening in the bottom of the cowl which means I can access the wiring as well as get good cooling.

All up weight is not harmed due to the smaller than average flight pack, and vertical is unstoppable

I get about 8 minutes with enough left in the packs for safety. I can charge both packs in an hour as they're safe to charge at 2c - all round its my best experiment in giant scale (nearly) electrics yet, I'd recommend it in a flash
