I am looking for some smart ways to access the needle on the 3w 106 carb when the cowl is on. does any of you have some pictures of how to get access to the hi and low needle through the cowl.

If you're using standard muffs, you might wanna shorten the needles a bit since they almost touch the mufflers and make it a pain to adjust with the cowling on.

Other than that, you drill a hole in the cowl so the needles can be reached with a long screwdriver.

What I did to access the needles on my 106 is this..
Called up a friend of mine who can weld on Alum. Mark out where it needs to be cut, and piece in some alum, and FINITO!!!!! Done deal neal!!!!! I didn't shorten my needles any. Just make bit of room on the muffler for them!!! ![]() Then what I did when the cowl is on, I drilled about a 1/4" hole in the side of the cowl for my screwdriver. Chris~

Chris, does that affect the performance of the engine at all, one cylinder having less expansion in the exhaust then the other? If it doesn't it is a really sweet way of reaching the needles!

I can't tell any difference!!!!!!! It is really easy, plus you don't have to use a hammer on those mufflers to clear for the needles!!!!
