IMO: these are just based on spec. seen from Leesburgs post, is it a true 35 % say around 105 in span and around 27 -29 lbs. and fat fuse. or is it more 33% say 97- 102 in. and 22- 25 lbs. if so the da85 swinging a 27-10 prop looks very appealing and da 100 sales will probably slow down.

Dang, I did not mean for this thread to get so " there is no such motor and this is all speculation. Mark Leseberg did not fly any 33% plane with a DA 85 in it, and it was all a piece of your imagination. I want to be as negative as I can".

How about vibration wise? My DA 50 shakes pretty well. Some say the DA 85 is just as smooth as a DA 100. Than others say the DA 85 shakes pretty good. So how smooth is it?

Power wise it's a bit less, but the savings in weight would almost equal out for the slight lack of power, right?

With the DA 85, it'll stick out the bottom of the cowl.

I'm saving up for a 35% right now and having a smooth engine would be nice, but so would saving some money and getting an 85.

I chose a 100, I don't care how well you match the counterweight, the throttle creates more or less vibration with a change in combustion. You would have to have a variable weight counterbalance, IE a fluid style damper. I have not seen one 85 that had less vibration than a 100, but thats just me...

I had an 85 on a pitts. I sold it all after about 1 gallon of fuel. Very wise choice GremlinX. The 85 is a dandy, NOT! I'm not gonna roast DA here. So if you want to know about the 85 PM me.

I had a DA-85 with pipe on a 33% tt toc yak. Awsome setup. Motor kept letting me down.
Replaced airframe due to crash with a 35% tt toc yak.
After the DA-85 let me down again I replaced the motor with the new DA-100L engine.
The 100 is the best choice hands down. The 85 was lacking in the vertical. But was snappier on the throttle stick.
The 100 has lots of vertical and more smooth on the throttle, my hanging has become more stable.
I love my DA-100L
