Default SMOKED 4 servos and rec.

plugged my new speed control into the rec and it smoked all 4 servos and the rec . I then checked the voltage coming out of the bec wire. It was 17.3 volts. that would explane the fried servos. But what is wrong with a new ESC ? Anyone ever seen a bad new one ? It is a 25 amp Pro Brushless ESC by E-flight.

I have some other products by e-flight that work correctly.

This ESC is only rated for 3 cells. This is directly from the spec sheet.

Cells w/BEC: 2-3S Li-Po or 6-10 Ni-MH/Ni-Cd

17.3 volts sound like to much voltage was plugged into it.

How could you measure 17.3 volts?? Mine 3 cell pack goes up to 12.5-6 volts when it's fully charged...
You must have a very bad ESC or maybe its possible to get 17 volt on a 3 cell pack if You overcharge the battery...

Did your ESC suddenly become a step-up transformer? Something is incorrect with your numbers, or something.

I agree... somethings up there... an 11.1vdc pack should max out around 12.38volts or so... if it was at 17.3, i think there was something wrong with the meter to be honest, that or you have a 5 cell pack and didnt know it.... and I doubt thats the case.

aint nothing wrong with the meter and aint nothing wrong with the way I have checked the volts coming out the BEC. aint nothing wrong with the Bat. SUPERFLYJAY the smoke coming out the rec smelled so bad I was afraid to taste it. I can think of better things to crush up and smoke.

Stay tuned a customer service test of Horizon is now underway

FWB

ps I just fell off the turnip truck yesterday so I dont have a clue as to what I'm doing.

how bout the step down of current is backwards 11.1 is posed to go to 6v . About 5v diff. So 11.1 plus about 5 is over 16v the other way. It could happen for real ?

FWB

ps I aint got no idea, just want to huck the mini katana
