Hello everyone
So i have decided to go for a giant scale airplane for IMAC and 3D as well. i will be scratch building the airplane, i cant afford the ARF they are qiute expensive for me and not easily avialable here in INDIA, also for the engine i have thought of using the "Berelli" 46cc engine, i want to go for DA but is too high for me , the radio gear will be Hitech servos with JR radio. Can any one help me find a good airplane for 50CC size which i can scratch built it. or any one can help me with plans. Thanks for the reply.

not sure of a plane...but if scratch built, you can do anything you want,,,,
one thing though.. not sure as to prices there.. but here in the states a scratch built really isn't any cheaper in the long run... it can cost the same or sometimes more than an arf... or a kit just a thought

I can vouch for that. Plus a lot more time. A little disheartning as well when you get finished and total it all up. I'd say if you really want to build then is a great experience, if you are trying to save money then think twice. Don't forget about all the little things, they add up fast.

Harrys,
These guys are right, I built my first IMAC plane because I thought I could save a buck or two. Sit down and do the sums first before you commit yourself. I think you'd be suprised at how much cheaper an ARF can be. There's a multitude of 50cc sized ARF's out there. If you can't get a good deal on an ARF from your local hobby shop, then buy online. That's all I've done since getting into the large scale stuff. Shop around mate, there's a whole world of choice out there on the net. It's definately satisfying building your own but also the more expensive option in the long run. All the best and good luck with whatever way you end up choosing to get into giant scale. |

I am not familiar with the import/export rules in India but I have to agree with Exeter on this one. In this country, the price of a kit tends to be 60-75% the price of an ARF of the same size and style. If I try to source all the contest grade balsa and components on my own and pay for plans it is the same or more than a kit.
For me, the reason for building as opposed to an ARF is so it is mine, with my preferences and touches along the way. It is not to save money. As far as plans go, you may want to do a google search. I did a little looking but did not come up with anything that I would suggest. |

Thanks for all your reply
Basically building my own plane will help me build the plane as light weight as possible from my years of building experience thats the advantage of custom building, also i have seen here no one sells giant scale airplanes we get only 40-60-90 size ARFs. Can any one help me with some plans for this size of an airplane. Harry S. |

Harry,
All these guys are right, don't bother building, buy ARF, you can get a 50cc Edge from China for about $350, not worth the trouble building. |
