Default DA150 and Greaves Tune Pipes

I was wondering if you could possibly help me as I have been looking at posts on a chat room where people have been explaining about the sizes of the pipes on engines. What are the lengths of the pipes for a DA150 engine and Greaves tune pipes? People are saying that they are 9 ¾ with an additional inch between the manifold and the pipe. Can we butt joint them and make them 10 ¾ inches or is this wrong? Please could you reply back to this email address explaining how and what I should do. Also another quick question, what size prop was on the engine?

Many Thanks

Chris Bull

That sounds about right. I am only running a 1/2 gap but I have the pipes on a floating mount so they can expand back instead of forward. but the 10 3/4 total header length is the correct measurement, I put in a slight throttle curve and now I have very smooth transition and great power.

The 1/2"-1" gap is there to make sure you don't get any contact between the pipe and header. If they touch, the metal on metal grinding creates a lot of RF noise. Whatever you end up with, the total length is 10.75"

People are running the Mejzlik 32x10 two blade and the Mejzlik 28.5x12 with this header length.
