ok, so i got my ps today folowed the instructions above and i can't get it to turn on!! it is the PS i noted in my last post. I have a PG wire, -12v wire a bunch of orange wires(3Volts i assume) a grey, brown, blue, white, and violet wire. any of these suposed to do anything? by touching the green and a ground wire it will flash( the LED's) and the fan will turn over and tehn all stops again?! Help please!

ok mike, here are some pics of the PS I cleaned up the wire mess by unsoldering all the unused ends, jumping the green wire directly back to the pc board on the ground rail, and elimitating the 115/230v ( wont be going overseas)switch by jumping the wire to the pc board again. basically i just did housecleaning on it. so upon flipping the switch the same thing still happens. the LEDs will flash and the fan will turn over for a sec. and thats it. I do have 5V on the blue stand by lead. it seems like there is not enough load on the system to get it to fire up. so what you think?

Robby,
There are two things that I don't see. I don't see the connection of the resistor to 5V and Ground, or the green switch wire connected to the ground...

in the 5th pic down, the green wire goes into the ground block so it is grounded. i removed the resistor for the pics but it was on the red 5volt wire and the black ground wire.

Dont open it up just jumper it at the cable ends, resistor across one molex conector red to black. then green to black on the MB conector short it out. Then if the psu is faulty you can return it under waranty. Once open or cut a cable no waranty

Not that I am starting a anti resistor movement but I am just curious would a pilot "on" lamp serve as a suitable load for start up? Or for that matter a cooling fan?
