A kiss? No, that would be considered foreplay...

The two 5 watt resistors, being equal resistance, will dissipate the power equally, so the equivalent power rating would be 10 watts. However, at 5 volts the actual power disspated should be only 2.6 watts. FWIW, a 10 ohm resistor across a 5v supply would be 2.5 watts. A smaller 10 ohm resistor rated at 5 watts would work fine. So, use the 4.7 ohm resistors, they should work fine. Bob R.

Warren this is not a model power supply. This is a computer power supply that has been modified for model power supply use. Here is a link with a part number http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...&Sku=A107-2000

Mike, Just wanted to pipe up and tell you all what a great thread this is. My dad tried this years ago and couldn't get it to work, back then the power was too little, not enough Amps he said - so he stayed with his little field 12V batts. Anyway, I sent him this thread to say the least. Also, I went on eBay and found the exact same Apevia 500W PS that you used, got it for $15. I'm going to Radio Shack this AM...

Mike, thanks for a great PS project.
i worry a bit about using the 5 volt rail for receivers. how well regulated is it, and how well filtered (DC) is it? a bit of a voltage spike could damage a receiver, unnoticeably at first...
