E-FEST News Flash! Futaba 2.4!
This just in! After much anticipation, and following the industry trend towards 2.4ghz spread spectrum technology, Futaba has officially released and shown for the first time the all new T6EX 6 channel transmitter! This major technological advancement rings in a new era of modeling, and officially places Futaba in the 2.4 game. There are a few threads on FG regarding Futaba’s technology branding – FASST, and we’ll make sure to bring all the product specs right back to The Giants in the coming hours, and days. Exciting stuff to say the least folks!! (dirty thumb compliments of a person with ink on their thumb )

The only problem with that radio is that Futaba started out with the bare, base, bottom of the rung radio they make. That radio doesn't have enough function to fly a foamy well much less anything else. It is a 2.4 offering though and if it works in a base bottom radio it can be adapted to others so...
They should have put it in there 7C. That would something to go head to head with a DX7. That would be a hot seller. If you buy this radio you have to want a Futaba 2.4 offering real bad to drop down to its level of functionality. |

Futurase, IMO, probably so, but you gotta admit, it's a start of something big. Team Orange now has a 2.4ghz offering, and as we're seeing with Team Red, I'm sure it won't be long until 2.4 makes its way into the higher models. Luckily for us as consumers, it would appear as a race is now on. This is exciting stuff to say the least!

I have to agree with Futurase.
If Spread Spectrum is going to be the end all be all of radio transmitting, and receiving from here on out, how come this technology isn't being placed on all radio systems hence forth, including the highest end stuff? Why is futaba installing it in a base line radio as did the other competition? Are they in the proving ground stage, and using us as beta testers. I bet they haven't figured out how to make this stuff work on more than seven channels. The other thing that bothers me as far as the current 2.4GiG stuff, is the redundant receiver. Seems like a band aid to me when one thinks about why it is needed. Curiously though, It is interesting to see companies work to make radio interference more, and more a thing of the past.

Max,
I am a "Red-man" mayself and have been for over 15 years. I guess I am a Red and Orange man now as I have had a DX6 since it came out and now a DX7. I just wish Horizon would hurry up and come out wtih a DX9 some I cold retire my almost 8 year old 10X now. Not that I don't love the 10X. I just would like to see companies offer more than base bottom radios. A 7C 2.4 would have been just as easy as what they did. Norman Ross Jr. |

For us, yeah a seven channel radio or higher would be nice to see as Futabas first 2.4 radio. But I would imagine that they still sell a hell of a lot more entry level radios. Either way I think its a good thing.

Freddy - I've admired the progression that Red has taken into 2.4 - start off with the little stuff, and make run way up the ladder. Orange had to answer Spektrum, and quick, and IMO sticking by the same methodology is very prudent. Judge brought up a good point before as well. The 6 channel arena constitutes a much higher volume of sales, and this fits the broader range of customers for Orange. Either way, I'm stoked to see this 2.4 release even on the same uber-low end transmitter that ships with G3. A year from now when we're flying 14MZ FASST's, and 28X Spektrums, we'll undoubtedly be reminiscing on the days when 2.4 came to be.Of course, this is all IMO, but I'm totally stoked to see what's in store as a consumer.
Futurase - And slightly off topic to this thread.. Low key, independant JR consumer here who also owns Futaba gear... I have an 8103 and a 10x which are on the way to The Swapshop next week along with a pile of high end receivers. Why? The speculation birdie told me something big may be coming at Toledo. 2.4 is good stuff.

Sarge - that's a great radio dude!! I have one myself. Who knows how long it will be, but one can only discern that a 2.4 equivelant to the 9c will be out within a reasonable timeframe.

Hi Guys,
Just back from the "Nurnberg Toy Fair" where Futaba has shown their 2.4 for the first time. everyone where talking about 2.4, and the fact that in few month\year there will be no crystals left... As for me - I stick to the spektrum..... I think their product is more mature now than anyone else, and from what I heard from the tech guys at the show, we have some major surprises coming from them very very soon.... Zivo |
