Default Reversing Y Harness????

Is it permissable to use a reversing y harness with JR 8611A servos or would that not be a good idea due to the large amount of current draw?

I do not advise you to use the reversing Y harness because the trim changes with the temperature, better to use a matchbox or mix from the radio, good luck.

You can get reversed JR servos from www.donshobbyshop.com thus eliminating the problems associated with the reversing Y harnesses

Ok - I have some experiences with reversing Y harness.

I have run and am currently running an Expert brand reversing Y harness in my FuntanaX 100 - I am using it 2 8411's on the elevator. This is probably as big as I would go.

I would definitely NOT use a reversing Y harness in a giant scale application. the current draw is significant enough that it is not worth the risk.

There are a few options though.
Hitec 5955's - you can program them to reverse. (of course you need a programmer)

You can use Smart fly EQII or EQ3D to reverse - the beauty of the EQualizer is that one lead goes back to the servos and you can match any mechanical variation out of both elevator halves. Smart-Fly.com

Of course you can use a JR Match box but they are not quite as versatile as a Smart Fly EQ - IMHO..

I hope this helps.

Thanks guys apprecitate the help. the reason for the questions is because i am having a problem trying to get my elevator matched in through using a progamable mix in my radio (JR 8103) I can have the throws matched for low rate or high rate but not for both. the right side always throws farther around a 1/8" or so. which really stinks when you want to fly 3d it constantly wants to roll off to the right with large amounts of elevator throw. so right now its either precision flight or 3d flight not both HELP!!!!!!

Flyguy,

39.99 EQII - problem solved - just give em a call and 2nd day air and your read-to-go IMHO...

They are very nice folks and they will explain everything - these guys know there stuff - I cant say enogh nice things about them..They cna explain the current draw and benefits as well.

If you set up ailerators you can use the radio to trim out both halves in your radio, of course that would require that you use channel 2 and 5 for the elevator halves. good luck, if you don't have the extra channel availiable, then i have no idea as what to do.

This means that one of your control horns could be slightly taller than the other. If they are adjustable try raising one or lowering the other to match them. Also your push rods might not be the proper length, giving you more up on one than the other at full up for example. Correct this by making them longer or shorter (hopefully they are adjustable). You can use paper protractors on your servos and on the surfaces to match them perfectly (push the servo arms with your hand, no power on them). Then with your power on, your Matchbox can be used to set them equal. There is no other way to do it right without synch'ing them mechanically first....then the Matchbox is used. The problem is that your two sides are not mechanically the same so they can only be matched at one position of deflection. If you take your elevator stick and go from center to full up or down in the smallest increments that you can, you will see that the two sides don't track.
