I have been thinking, Yea I smell smoke to, We all have Gyro's that control the tail of our Heli's, but does anyone know how 2 more gyros forming an X and Y axis for Fore and aft, as well as Left and Right yaw can be created?
My idea is this, If 2 more gyro's can be combined so that if the Heli is not receiving any LR, or Fore or Aft stick input, that the Heli comes back to a Level Hover by it's self. I'm Interested in Any Ideas on how to achieve this. I know it has been done on larger heli's, but How could I do it on an RC Heli? |

Many Arial Photography guys are using this to keep their heli's put when snapping pics, almost handsfree. It will drift with the wind, but does an amazing job.

there was a guy at my fiedl once that had a FMA autopilot, did about what your saying tank, when you turned it on that was the set 'level' and any time after that is would return to that postion once the sticks are center,, i dunno if the reaction time would be fast enough for helis,..

COOL. I have been reading about the Nex Star and the FMA's Co-Pilot, and it looks like the Co-Pilot wins hands down. However this posses a problem for me. The basic system they have will only work with an X Y axis swash, and the more advanced one comes with a programmable receiver. I currently use the DX6 radio system, and it works off a 3 point swash under CCPM.
Does anyone know of a system that will work with the radio system I already have? I have too much money tied up in this to just dump it. Don't get me wrong, I live where it is always real windy and Gusty, and I have learned how to control and correct even in an Out of Control situation, but I would love to be able to have something like that to use to take pictures with my Heli. So far, I've seen 3 different types of these, ranging from $70 to $500. The Robbe one for five bills, looks like it would work with Any system, but Who has 5 hundred dollars to piss away, certainly not me.

Sounds like something I would like to check out. Do you have a Link for this one? Also does it handle CCPM? Both my Heli's are CCPM

The spartan is pretty brilliant - it will handle any sort of ccpm and also do a "digital cyclic ring" (keeps the swash from binding when you put the RH stick in a corner.) Do a search on it on Runryder.com - there's some good reviews on it.
