Default Precision Aerobatics Edge 540T 28%

OK, I'm thinking about getting a PA Edge 540T 28%, however, I have not heard anyone singing it's praises here at FG. Anyone out there that can shed some light?
Maybe some of our aussie compadres can iluminate me. It looks good in pictures, but just wondering about quality of build, finishing and of course all out 3Ding.
Thanks for the input.

great little plane. the build was fairly easy. the landing and tail gear are a little soft but, i think pa might have changed that.
it was my first gasser and i have since gone onto 33%.
the edge came out very light at just over 6kilos.
my nephew is flying it now.
there is a build thread somewher on rcu.........

I had two of Wildhare's 28% Edge 540T. I liked the way they flew was the reason for getting a
second one after crashing my first. Great on rails flyers. I have also been flying Wildhare's
28% Extra 300 special. I feel the Edges have a little edge (no pun) over the Exrtas. DA 50, JR
radio with 8611s on control surfaces, standard on throttle and choke. Check them out. At the
price, they are a very good buy. www.Wildharerc.com

I had a PA Edge with a DA50, Hitec digitals, etc.. as my first gasser. I loved it dearly but sold it to help fund a 33%. Overall, it's an excellent plane; the stock gear does suck, though. Replace it with a nice CF gear and you'll be good to go. Due to its lightweight, the performance was absolutely ballistic with the DA50. It has almost zero KE coupling and is very stable in high alpha. My only complaint was it didn't have counterbalanced elevators - not a deal breaker by any means, but it would have been nice. The elevator geometry was a little funky, but easy enough to work out. Excellent build quality, covering and flight characteristics - you can't ask for much more!

Hi Guys,

There are a few upgrades that we made to refine our Edge 540T :
The latest batch of Edges has new covering - instead of the black strips it features carbon fiber texture Ultracoat covering, which looks awesome!
The canopy now has pre-painted frame so no trimming tape is required.
The engine box features laser marks for easy DA 50 installation!
We have redesigned the cowling to obscure better the cylinder head. The new cowling also feature well designed pre-cut air intakes.
New tail servos geometry designed for optimum setup.
HARDWARE UPGRADES: tail wheel assy is made of Carbon instead of kevlar! German made Ball links are included as well as heavy duty machined clevises.

Hi Shaun,

I got the latest kit. Have not started the build yet

The new covering is very nice. I really like the CF trim effect

I've reading on RCU that its recommended that you reinforce the motorbox, is this correct?

Hi Shaun,
I am also thinking about the Edge as my 2nd gasser after just purchasing the Great Planes Ultimate Biplane 1.60.
Did you resolve the LG issues ? (remember the Katana Mini)
Saving my bucks,
Jim
