If you’re ready to order right now, my vote would be for the Ultra-RC Yak. It’s identical to the old Extreme Flight Yak and is an incredible plane. I swore off 50cc planes after going bigger but came across a good deal on a used EF Yak a few months ago. I absolutely love it; it’s earned all the hype that used to surround it! It flies better than many 33%’s and much better (IMO) than the few other 50cc-sized Yaks I have flown. If you’re willing to wait, the new EF Yak will be badass along with the new QQ Yak.

My Opinion,

Extreme Flights new 88", WOW!! I just picked mine up today and while I was there got to look at the Yellow/Black as well as the White/Red ones that Chris has Ready to fly. Unbelievable, absolutely beautiful planes! I got the Ylw/Blk but after seeing the White/Red in person It's a toss up.

First thing you notice is it's Huge! More like a 33-35% . Covering in perfect, tinted canopy etc, etc. It does weigh more than some of the much smaller 30% planes but if you look at the video's on the website you'll see it's got more than enough power with a DA-50 with a pipe.

The next shipment will be here shortly and well worth the wait.

I will make a guess and say this is your opinion because I doubt you have flown every available 50cc yak 54 on the market? I am sure the new QQ yak will be good, but to say it is better than the others is doubtful. I own the original EF 87" yak and I have flown a buddies 85" QQ yak, the EF is as good or better and these new offerings from both companies appear to be improvements.
My advice to lil_chinky_b0i is to be patient and see how the flight reports come in. I am confident about how Extreme Flight RC's will come in.

I make no claim to be THE expert. But, I fly with a very large group of giant scale pilots here in SoCal, and ALL of the planes discussed are in the group. I have a couple of top pilots that HAVE flown them all, and thier opinion is my base for my comment. The Extreme Flight Yak "was" the best around, but it's gone. The SD Models (Ultra RC) Yak is a copy, but near 2 lbs heavier on average. The QQ 85" is #2 behind the lost Extreme Flight Yak by popular opinion here. The Extreme Flight was under 15 lbs on a lite build with a DA-50. The QQ 85" is 15-1/2 to 16 lbs, the new QQ86" is going to be under 15 lbs. So, the conclusion would be, based on this group of pilots (20-25 guys, all expert pilots) is that the QQ 86" will be the best out there, if it lives up to the specs published. Ask REZA over on the QQ support Forum, I have talkes to him on the phone several times, and fly with him occasionally. Quique has a goal, to OWN the 50cc Yak market just like he took the 100cc class in the last year.

That's where that came from, it's just an opinion, granted, but it's not based on a loyalty or a biased individual opinion.

The SD Models and Ultra RC are not the same plane. The Ultra RC Yak is basically an IDENTICAL copy of the EF Yak sans the covering. The only difference is they are reported to be a few ounces heavier than the original EF. The SD Models is formerly AM, TOC, etc..

Thanks TManiaci, as we all know some make statements without any type of true substantiative knowledge. Good to know how you came up with that knowledge. I do agree the QQ is good.

Yea, I got that Ultra RC and SD Models thing mixed up. We have like seven giys in our crew building or flying these new birds, and it's really hard to tell them apart. The SD Models Yak mimics the Extreme Flight construction, but the Ultra RC is a dead ringer. However, the guys building the Ultra RC Yak have had a host of quality troubles with fitting wing tubes, warped and missing parts, covering on one aileron upside-down, and other issues. It's not the same quality of the EF Yak, that is for sure. One of my flying buddies has both... you can see a lot of differences side-by-side in glue joint quality, finish and hardware. The Ultra RC is also coming in at 16-1/2 lbs, give or take 1/4 lb. Nowhere near the sub-15 lb EF Yak. The SD Models Yak is even heavier, and one I saw was verified over 17 lbs with a DA-50. In a plane this size, a pound is a huge difference...

Remember, published weights don't mean squat... put 'em on the scale and report the REAL weight. Everyone publishes bogus numbers in this class, with the exception of QQ. His published weights have generally been conservatively stated so far...

That's what I know from my limited world of first hand knowledge, others may find otherwise, but I am not trying to exagerate or sell the QQ 86"... I am hoping like crazy it's worth the wait. Check the Vids of Quique talking about the plane and the other with it in the air on his site... very impressive indeed.
