I'm sorry, but there's no way your Edge weighs 23.5 lbs with a DA 100 on it, unless you've done some extensive mods to lighten it. Time for a new scale.

I was thinking DA-85 with a pipe! Maybe 25lbs or so, Should be a great combo.

Wow, that is light. I guess you get lucky every once and a while. I have a comp-arf that is very light for its size. I guess a lot matters as to who lays up the resin, or at least that is all I could figure. My Edge weighs about 27lbs with a 106 and if I use my 115 it is 25lbs.

![]() The early ones were lighter. Mine is from the first production run (actually, one of the first in the country, mine's the Fantasy Scheme that the original distributor (Planes Plus) brought around to trade shows). Been flying it for 3 years now, it's been in the country somewhere around 4 years. DA100, standard mufflers, single 5955 on all surfaces (only 1 on each aileron), 2 2400 lithiums on RX, and a single 2400 on ignition. As I understand it, the first ones had thinner tubes (I can confirm that, I have a set of the thicker ones I bought from BVM and never used), the entire motor box area is different, it doesn't have the large rudder tray of the current ones, and the fuse only has the thick foam center layer on the bottom to about 6 inches past the wingtube, the rest past that is just the skin. It's built a lot lighter than a Comp Arf. Last edited by Eury; 03-15-2008 at 07:25 PM. |

The one I just built doesn't have any foam in the bottom of the fuse.. just fiberglass from the landing gear mount to the tail wheel. Actually, it does appear to be a little flimsy on the floor behind the servo tray.. but I guess if that part ever hits the ground, I've got big problems anyway!

Eury- I know how my comp-arf flies at 23.5lbs, I bet that edge is awesome at that weight, and would have just about the right amount of power for me too

I wouldn't worry about it, mine doesn't even have the servo tray, and it's held up really well, even to an unplanned landing in a corn field.

*** did I do to get mine up to 27? There's not a whole heck of a lot you can do go make it HEAVIER! I'm not worried about it, it has plenty of power, and I'm not going to start making any changes now.

You didn't do anything, 27 to 28 is the normal weight with a DA 100.
I still don't think someone else could be 4 lbs lighter with comparable equipment. Jim |

I'm not getting into a schlock measuring contest.. these guys have helped me out a lot on my build, and if they say its 24 pounds and flies backwards... it must be!

Did you weigh it without fuel?
Not sure why the measurements are so different, I didn't do anything in particular to lighten mine up?
