I like the possibilities unfortunately, like all new products, they are not quick to tell you how much it cost. Hopefully it will be in the price range of the economical RC flyer who can't afford to crash often.

so, i might just as well get the dx7 for 330.00. i was hoping prices were about 200.00 for module and reciever. i guess i'll wait a year to see if prices come down, and for the technology to prove itself.
all in all it is good news though. thanks guys for you constant vigilence!

Just edited this... LOL as i know you probably just started a thread that will hit alot of posts.... I'm wondering if your sources can tell you if there will be a software update needed for this and the 12/14 mZ's somehow i don't think futaba is going to like this! LOL and i am not seeing them graciously writing an update for someone elses Module...... or do you think it will be Plug and Play like the 50/72 MHZ modules? This is awesome News! Thanks again FG!!!!

Is $40 that big of a deal for something like this? For $239 you get the module and the same RX that would be in the DX7 package.

First off. . Kudos and MAJOR ^5's to the Spektrum folks. This is a fantastic step forward for modelers. Inside of 3-5 years I'm predicting 72Mhz will be a thing of the past, and with prices coming down, even AM and PPM will be long gone.

Secondly, Max, to you and the Flying Giants crew in general. . GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!!

The entire 2.4 ghz fascination, and discussions about aftermarket add-ons, competitors, and alternatives in this market has been, I'm sure, strenuous on the Mod crew. You guys deserve lots of free beer and frolicking dancing girls in thanks for your efforts in keeping things CIVIL for the many debates, arguments, and downright shooting standoffs during this time.

My Beer is YOUR beer at JN. . for ANY FG moderator who stops by or is thirsty at an inopportune moment at Joe Nall. i thnk you guys earned it.

I'm HOPING (though I'll be proven wrong) that all the attacks on Jim and the "other" aftermarket system will CEASE (you people know who youare). He still has a great product. I'm sure it will come to market. . I'm SURE there will be debate on it and comparisons between any 2.4G componentry and systems. I HOPE it will be a lot more civil than it has been.

10 Thumbs up Maxon. . .ya dun GUDE ! !

I am interested in integrating your SS module in the ACE MicroPro 8000 transmitter. I have several questions.

1) Is the interface from the transmitter the PPM signal?

2) The Futaba module says DM8 so I assume, 8 channels and not 9 for the 9C.
a) If I send the futaba module 9 PPM signals will the AR9000 accomodate them?

3) Is the JR interface PPM?

I may have other questions later.

Thanks,

Dan Thompson

Unless Spektrum has reverse engineered the Futaba PCM data stream, then they would have to use PPM. I don't know for a fact, but I have heard that at least some of the 9ch Futaba systems won't output more than 8 channels in PPM mode.

If the system uses PPM, then we are stuck with the update rate of a standard PPM system, somewhere around 20ms. The newer Futaba systems (12MZ and 14MZ) using G3 PCM have faster update rates, and I suspect any 2.4ghz module and receivers that Futaba comes out with will probably utilize the PCM data stream, or possibly have a firware update for something even better for their 2.4ghz module.

Now this is purely speculation on my part since I don't know for sure. However, it will be interesting to see what Futaba comes out with for their 12 and 14MZ radios. I don't have one of those systems, but I have a lot of the older 7, 8 and 9 channel radios. I will be looking seriously at the Spektrum modules for my radios.

The other question I have is regarding the binding of the recievers to the programmed model in the computer radios. The DX7 won't allow the wrong model to operate with a given program, I don't see how this can work in the other radios since there is no way to bind each programmed model.

Thinking out loud,

Bob R.

By all accounts, you are correct, Bob . taking PPM and translating it into the SS datastream with proprietary encoding, is much easier than decoding the proprietary Futaba, JR, hitec, etc etc etc signal and then recoding it for use with the Spektrum system.

After all, its a universal PPM signal, used by all manufacturers. Unfortunately, to get more channels, using PCM, you need digital encoding, so 8-9 channels is the limit for this process.

Still. . anyone out there use more than 5-6 channels most of the time?? I certainly don't.

I have heard a lot about how responsive and how fast the DX7 is... Are these modules on a 9303 or 9c going to be fast and responsive also? What kind of resolution will we get?

According to the text the AR9000 receiver can accept 1 or 2 auxilliary receivers, like the AR-7000 has an aux receiver on a dongle.

The pricing does not show a price for the secondary receivers.

Does the AR-9000 receiver already have an aux unit that comes with it? What is the price of the aux receiver if I want to add one?

Also the AR-9000 showed 9 servo connectors plus two others. Are these for dual power inputs?
