I totaled a 27% Ultimate and had to buy me a second one. I am currently flying both the 27% and the 100cc version.

Who knows? I wonder how many of these ARFs are really within the 10% rule. I wonder how many CDs could really tell or would take the time to measure an airframe? The rule is basically pointless. Seams if the airframe even remotely resembles the scale counterpart--your okay to fly it in competition.

I'm so sick of manufacturers and distributors calling any Extra 300 a 330L or a 330S or a 330LX or just whatever they feel like. There are a lot of different designations of the 300 that came from the factory. But not a single 330 was ever produced by the factory.

Maybe I'll start calling my Edge an Edge 683? Why would anyone have a problem with that? We all know it's an Edge 540 (well, most of us do), but I like the way 683 rolls off my tongue, so I'm going to start calling all Edges an Edge 683. Whats the difference?

I've had a few of the WM planes and liked them. But if your set on the Katana go with the SD models 35% Katana. It's light, has a 106" WS and will do anything you want.

I have an AeroWorks 36% Katana. I used carbon fiber parts everywhere possible and the plane still came out over 30lbs (using a DA on std mufflers). The plane flys well but the fit and finish are the worst I have seen on a modern ARF. I would strongly recommend buying something else because if mine is any indication, it won't last.

Yours sounds exactly like mine did.... Flew really well, Junky quality, wore out to easy.

C'mon World Models... every one else has raised the bar of quality... Step up or get left behind.

These planes fly great, but they tend to come out tailheavy, as well as heavy overall. The wings and heavy aluminum landing gear contribute to most of this weight. For the price though, it is a 3D monster.
Mine has a BME 110 in it. Yes, I had to add the weight back to get it to balance, and yes, its still tail heavy .

Doug
Where's your CG at? Just finished mine and I am tail heavy with a ZDZ100B2RV. How much weight did you add? Read somewhere it balanced fine with a DA100 (5.8lbs), ZDZ weighs about 4.8lbs. Looking at 1lb of lead up front?

I had a 50cc World Models Katana and with the cg set at their specs. it was incredably tail heavy. It barely survived the first flight. After moving the cg. it flew great until battery failure strained it through a tree.
