Hello First post here,
15 years ago flew Giant scale and had a blast. I recently got back into the hobby and bought a few electrics but I miss the big ones. I only had one small gas engine back then it was a Zenoah G23 and I would buy ceiling hangers from the hobby shop and stuff that thing into them. You guys would laugh you ass of if you could have seen some of those things flying, some of them blew apart in flight, I lawn darted that engine several times and it never hurt it!! I put it in several 60 size stick built planes and just flew them up. The rest of the fleet flew on G62's and Sach 4.2 to 5.8's. I used to buy G62's 6 at a time for 240.00 a piece. then the at6 racing started and it was the end of that price. I think I'm going to buy one of these engines? will you guys help me decide what to put it in? I liked flying the extra series 260, 300. However I really like the looks of these Yaks (flew a real size yak once and it was fun). Thanks, Gabriel |

I don't know what kind of budget you are on.
The 74" wingspan Aeroworks Yak 54 (1.20 ) is a excellent plane, a complete high quality arf. But it is on the pricey side. $379.99 http://aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=288 The 63" wingspan Seagull models Yak 54 (.90) is also a very nice plane. I would just up grade some hardware items ( hinges for one ). $199.00 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SEA5000 My small Yak is the 71" wingspan WillHobby Yak 54 ( 1.40 ) This won't be a good choice for a 26cc motor. I have a Brillelli 36cc in mine and still had to add nose weight. All up RTF weight is 14lb 2oz. I would say that it is to much for any 26cc motor. $150.00 on E-Bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/WillHobby-NIB-Re...QQcmdZViewItem I put my GF26I in a 64" wingspan Seagull Laser 200. I had a OS Max 1.60FX in it and the GF26I is even better in the plane then the OS. I am able to turn a Xoar 18 X 6 @7750rpm where I only was getting 7250 rpm with a Master Airscrew wooden 18 X 6 on the OS. All up weight on the Laser is just under 12 lbs. I only will use metal gear servos in gasoline powered plane. I found that a gasoline engines vibration makes plastic gear servos sloppy and then strip |

Some guys make it like if you don't buy a certain brand then you shouldn't fly. I try to tell people a good item for the buck and what $$ range they can afford. Some guys act like if you don't own a Desert ********-50R them you shouldn't own anything because everything else is junk. Ok, enough of that. I use all standard size high tourqe servos. In my 50cc + planes I run Hitec HS5955TG. ( $90.00 a servo ) They are not needed in a 26cc plane. It will depend if you want, a digital or analog servo. Digitals can be programed, reveresed, etc. But you would need to have a programmer to do these things. Analogs servo are you basic servo. A good analog servo i would recommend is the Hitec HS625MG. It will give you good speed and tourqe ( 0.15 sec/60dgr , 95 oz in @6V) The Hitec HS645MG is stronger but slower ( 0.20 sec and 133 oz in @ 6V ) Both of these are about $35.00 a servo Next would be Hitec ( digital ) HS5625MG and HS5645MG, faster and stronger but more $$$ ( $55.00 a servo ). JR and Futaba also have great servos. Just look for equal tourqe and speed. ONLY USE METAL GEARS. A 26cc gasoline plane I would look for tourqe in the 80-120 oz. in. range and a speed of 0.13 to 0.20 ( no slower then 0.20 ). I run all my stuff @ 6 volts 1650-2500mah and use two batteries for the RX. I also try to go digitals Hitecs, since I already have a programmer. My latest project is a Great Planes Super Stearman, a Fuji BT43EI, and all Hitec HS625MG servos, except one HS5625MG for the elevator. So after all that, your answer......... On a budget: analog HS625MG ( 0.15 / 94oz @ 6V ) and $35.00 each Not on a budget: digital HS5625MG ( 0.14 / 130 oz @ 6V ) and $55.00 each And if really not on a budget digital HS5955TG ( 0.15 / 333 oz @ 6V ) Titanium gears $90.00 each These are super strong standard size servos that can be used ( I would ) up to 100cc planes. Once you have them, you have them. Never complained about to strong of a servo before. |

Oh, by the way.
I would only go with a good name brand servo. JR, Futaba, Hitec Not some off the wall inexpensive e-bay servo. Personally, to much of a investment to take the chance. Anymore info, just PM me. Lets try to keep this thread going about the GF26I engine.

I have seen some videos on this thread, but that was with what looks like a pretty light model. So does anyone have any real information about how this engine is with a 70" plane? Around 9 pounds? Does it hover it? Does it pull out of the hover vertically? Whats the response like? Is it easy to tune? WHats the BEST prop for this engine???

OK, I just did the swap on my Seagull Laser 200.
I weighted everything to do the swap and here is what the verdict is: OS Max 1.60FX ( 2 stroke ) with Bisson pitts muffler, Seagull stock aluminum motor mount, engine to mount bolts, mount to firewall bolts, prop and spinner. Total is 3lb. 3.2 oz. CRRC Pro GF26I with CRRC pro pitts muffler, custom made 2 3/4" stand offs, stand off mounting bolts, ignition, ignition battery and switch, prop and spinner. Total is 3 lb. 4.9 oz. I am going to use the same tank, so no differance there. So, an all out even exchange of motors ready to fly gained me 1.7 oz. and about 550 - 600 more rpm with a much better prop. OS with a 18 X 6 Master airscrew wood 7250 rpm. CRRC with a Xoar 18 X 6 wood 7800 rpm. When I get it up in the air, I'll let you guys know. Here is some video links of the Laser with the OS in it. |

I just ran some differnt props on the CRRC Pro GF26I.
I used a Hobbico tach and a digital scale . Engine was tuned to a Xoar 18 X 6. There was NO tuning done between any props. Here are the figures. Xoar 16 X 8 @ 8400 rpm with 12.2 lbs. of pull. Xoar 17 X 6 @ 8400 rpm with 13.3 lbs. of pull. Xoar 17 X 8 @ 7500 rpm with 11.5 lbs. of pull. Xoar 18 X 6 @ 7800 rpm with 12.1 lbs. of pull. APC 18 X 6W @ 7800 rpm with 12.4 lbs. of pull. Xoar 18 X 8 @7400 rpm with 11.0 lbs. of pull. |

Hi!
I want to put a Choke servo but the arm in the carburetor isnt in the correct angle. Can I modify the arm psoition? AND: Can I release the spring int the carburator (accelerator arm) to move freely and not stress the gas servo? Sorry my english and Thanks! Eddy Left Photo OPEN CHOKE Right CLOSED |

You can remove the spring... To fix the choke problem, why dont you make a horn out of aluminum and use a screw in the outer hole throught the horn. Make the horn the shape you need for the choke rod to connect to the servo with no problems.

Hi Guys,
Just wondering how this engine stacks up against the spe 26cc and the peak 26cc. I have been looking at some of the 25% combo offers from peakmodel, and these three engines are all available for the same price. Has anyone any experiece who could give a comparison or opinion. This would be my first venture into gas, so ahppy to take any advice. Iain. |
