I cut the cowl for the velocity stack.
I have the entire bottom cut out of the cowl for the pitts muffler and for 1 - 3 ratio of air exit. Plus it was cut different from the OS 1.60FX so there are some holes in it from the needle vavle adjustment and the glow driver. |

I finally maiden my Extra (76 inch ws) with the CRRC Pro 26 and all went great. I burned gas for about 120 minutes on the ground and when the engine gave me signs that it was ready, decided to go fly. It's a great engine for this plane at close to 11 lbs with a half tank (14 oz). I didn't push her much, especially on up lines but it seemed to climb with authority. I tached it at 7130 on the ground with a Hawk 18x6. It idled around 2100, a bit high but I'm sure it will get better as more fuel is burned.

Hiya fellas, I've been interested in these motors since a flying buddy told me about them. He has 2 of them and really likes them.
I have a queation since I've found that http://www.valleyviewrc.com/CRRC%202...s%20Engine.htm sells them for $253 US shipped. Is this the same engine as western hobbies? they have it for like a $100 more? Thats a big difference in price. |

You are about to be enlightened, put a Mejlik 18-6 on the CRRC and your "other" 26cc engine...

Brand ???? I KNOW what an RC EXL costs from China... Direct..In a week.....
![]() Wanna play ??? ![]() C&H and I have been making the best ignitions in the world for about 20 years...Along came China... We can't buy the parts to make an ignition alone for what the RC EXL costs complete.... The RC EXL is the best of the other ignitions, hands down.... Where were all you opportunists back then ??? I don't know if Bill would go along, and not saying we WOULD, but together we could DESTROY the ignition market for anyone else in the US...Don't forget we're both OLD and don't much care anymore... Until the Chinese figure out they don't need a middleman.....Then it's REALLY all over... I haven't put RC EXL ignitions for sale on my website, but I COULD...

Unfortunately the world is changing to a "world economy whether you or I like it or not.
We all have the choice to fight them or join them, but just you and I will not make a nats ass difference in the long term scheme of things to come. I know from experience the ignition that came with the early CRCC 26 engines had a problem and I replaced mine with an RCexl ignition and it then ran FLAWLESSLY!!! I have a few extra ignitions for sale to anyone who has had one fail or burn out (like turning over engine with electric starter without the plug grounded) Don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but this is AMERICA and I believe it is still a FREE ENTERPRISE market. So I am offering these few to clear out my stock as I am switching TOTALLY to electric RC. The new Lipo batteries, switching regulator controllers and brushless motors offer better throttle response and more power if you want to pay the price for the battery packs all about ABOUT the same weight. ( See Jason Schuleman's results in recent RC contest) single cyl ignition ( specify CM-6 or BPMR6F plug) $50 ( 2 each for $75) twin cyl ignition ( specify CM-6 or BPMR^F plug) $55 ( 2 each for $90) ignitions complete with hall effect sensor and mount YES they are RC exl Brand new in the box |

Yes, unfortunately China is a "sleeping giant" just now waking up to modern technology. Once they solve their quality control issues they will be an unstoppable force we will have to deal with.
America experienced its industrial revolution almost 100 years ago. Now China is experiencing its technological revolution. China has been around for over a thousand years. The US has been around for only a couple hundred years. Incidentally, I have the Laser 200 with everything in the picture ( see early posts), plane, engine, 821 servos, DX-7 receiver and 2 batteries for sale for $400 plus an extra set of wings and empenage for free with airplane.. I picked up the ignitions when I was in Taiwan & China back in december and have no use for them now so selling them to anyone who needs one or just wants to pick up a spare. The gas engine planes are VERY economical to run, make hardly any mess compared to nitro plane but are a little to large for me to transport in my car so have gone to 45" size electric planes which are still big enough to see, yet small enough to easily transport. Our hobby is evolving at a faster and faster pace just like computers started doing a few years back. We will all have to learn to change and adapt along with it or be left behind. trike |

I was out at the field again. Now the engine starts very easily and gives plenty of power. So far so good but I had to eliminate the JST connector between the CDI and the pack because it was poorly soldered and caused massive missing during flight. I tried hovering and it does it OK but as someone here pointed earlier, there's no vertical punch out. At least not for now (3/4 gallon). The bird now weighs 11 lbs 10 oz wet.
Take offs are short and easy thanks to instant low rpm power and the sound the little engine makes it quite intimidating. My Extra looks and sounds like the real deal when doing large loops and high altitude aerobatics. I'm sold on this technology and I can guarantee to never invest another dime in glow engines and only restrict the use of electrics to parkflyers. 3 cell is a good place to be. . |
