Is this thing as powerful as a 50cc? Cause those numbers are really good.

Here are some videos og the CRRC GF26I.
First videos is just a look. Second video is numbers with an APC 17 X 6 prop.. Third video is an SY 16 X 8 prop. In the third video, I could not believe how much putting the cowl on the plane affected the flight performance. It was still OK, but with no cowling , it is an animal and has fast, unlimited verticle. With the cowl verticle was still good but it sure wasn't fast. I had trouble downloading the videos without the cowl, so when I take more I will post them. Needless to say, the cowl looks good, but I think I'll keep it off. By the way, in the third video, some goof ball forgot to turn on the Opto kill switch on the TX.

Thanks for clearing that up.
2robin, that cowl is a parachute, but I guess it does a good job of cooling the engine! This engine is really tempting. I wish I had heard of it before I got my BCMA-SPE 26. It's a light, good-running engine, but it lacks power. The CRRC will have to wait.

Hello everyone, new member here and this is my first post. Anyway I recently got me a gf26I and have a little problem with it. On the first startup, the thing vibrated badly. I found that the output shaft was out of true by a long way. I removed it and found that it was a little loose and the spring washer behind it was making it run out. The thread relationship between it and the crank is sloppy as. So I put it back on without spring washer and done it up tighter. It now runs as close to true as I can get it - probably about .2mm out. The only thing I noticed later is I may have to much pressure on the prop hub. It has a slight crack in it maybe caused by the taper spreading it out? Just wondering if anyone else has had this drama. I read in previous posts about key and hub issues, but the hub is spot on. The only thing is I may need a new one now. Was also considering getting a new output shaft made up. In doing this I hope that it screws onto the crank thread without so much slop

well mine is now fully broken in and tearing it up! i cannot be more happy. it is flying my lazer at an awsome pace. until i partialy blocked off half the cowl it was lame. after 2 gallons and a 16x8 master airscrew clasic it rips. i was using a wooden prop and it did not have enough flywheel effect to make it fast enough to stay spooled up. it slows like a dream. it is turning that prop at 7500 on the ground. it is just on the edge of the tips screaming on a down wind leg.

For those running this 26 engine with success, what octane fuel are you running?

They say to use 98 octane in the manual. I'm running mine at the moment with 95 and 25:1 fuel/oil (still running in) and it's performing quiet well. I did put a little octane booster in it. After a few hours you can notice the engine starting to come to life. Idle improves a lot. Shortly I will go to 32:1 with 98 octane.

Thanks for the reply. Is there something about this engine that requires the higher octane? Reason I ask is I own DA's and DL's and the consensus with them is don't use higher octane and I really dont want to carry two different gas jugs to the field. But at same time I am having transition from low to high issues with this smaller engine so I am searching for possible culprits.
Thanks, Z |

I am using regular unleaded, what ever that is. 89 octane?
I didn't want different fuel containers either. I run one gallon of 25:1 break in, after that everything is 40:1 Penzsoil aircooled. That is how I done my DL-50, DL-100, Brillelli 36GT, CRRC GF26I, and CRRC GF50I.
