Try loosening the sensor screws and move the sensor all the way to the end of the slots in the direction of prop rotation, retard the timing. Choke it till it pops and then a couple more flips with choke on, then choke off, 3 or 4 clicks throttle, flip 3-5 times should get it going. But get the propshaft tight by putting some rope down in the spark plug hole to softly bind up the piston, double nut the propshaft and tighten it about as tight as a spark plug. Have to stop the kick back first though by retarding the timing.

Thanks. I'll try the timing and double nut thing.

If anyone is interested I have a perfect ignition and 9 brand new sparkplugs. I went with two 35%ers and I am cleaning out some left behind items.
PM me with any questions.

Hey Ken, Still never got to see the Stearman video.
I still do have my stearman sitting, but it is 90% together and that makes it unshipable if I sell it ( the wings are so big ).
I have been just waiting for the right time and buyer to pick it up.

any of you guys had issues with the ignition quiting on these yet? We have 3 at our field that are all less than 2 weeks old and all 3 had ignitions go bad. I guess the factory has a bad batch out or somthing recently.

I just spoke with Doug Carlyle, I believe he is one of the 3 that have had problems with the ignition. He stated that he is running a 6 volt battery on the ignition system. The system is best used with a 4.8 volt battery, 6 volts is the maximum voltage the ignition should fed. Using a fully charged 6 volt battery will feed over 7 volts to the ignition and is most likely the cause of the problem. Late versions of the CDI module are more tolerant of higher voltage but are still best used with a 4 cell battery. There is no performance advantage to using a 5 cell battery, in fact, the ignition system will draw more current with a 5 cell battery and the battery will not last as long requiring charging more often.

The best props I have found for the CRRC Pro 26 are ZOAR and every size is availble from Chief Aircraft. The second best and cheaper are HAWK propellers whom some people claim are made in same overseas factory.

If you CRRC Pro CDI fails replace it with an RCexl CDI which is "BULLET PROOF" and makes your CRRC Pro 26 run like a top. And YES no need for 5 cell 6 volt battery. Best to use 4.8 cell nimh of at least 2000 ma.

Good Luck Flying!!!!

Here is where I purchased mine. This one comes with the RCXel ignition so you don't have to buy it seperately.

I purchased one of these and a YAK to hold onto it, from Tom at Valley View RC. I burned the first full tank of 24:1 thru the engine today (35 minutes). It was a little hard to start the first time but it was mostly me not chocking it enough to get it wet. The little 26 never missed a beat and was responsive and so far sounds good. This engine does not take to flip starting although I was getting better at it near the end of the tank. Maybe when its more broken-in and I find the right way to start it, it will get easier. Luckily I have an electric starter that is just strong enough to do the job. I richened both needles about 1/60 of a turn and it helped. The low end needle is very sensative. My tach's batteries ran out so I could not tach the engine. The idle was smooth and I was able to get it down quite low near the end. Next tank will be the last at 24:1 and I will go to 32:1 for a gallon then to 40:1 if the plane survives that long. After the runs I took off the prop to install the cowl I inspected the engine closely and found no problems. I reinstalled the prop and spinner and checked the prop hub and it was OK.
