Just installed the CRRC 26 in the nose of the 540 edge. Finally got the cowl to fit late last night. Picked up an Opto switch for the kill and will get the fuel tank ready for gas today. Since this is my first gas engine and install, will be taken it slow. May need to ask questions as well.
![]() Will it be okay to stay on this thread for this????? Just let me know. Thanks

On the Opto kill switch, not sure how the led plugs in to the kill? Same as the lead out of the top or the lead coming from the other side of the switch? Not very clear on directions, but may not make a difference.

Nice plane!
If its the 42% kill switch the LED plugs into the 3 prongs sticking out one end of the circuit board. One end has the plug that goes to the radio, and the three naked pins sticking out, note the color codes on the wire, the brown wire goes to the outside pin, red on the middle pin, and then the orange wire. You can download the manual here if you don't have it. http://www.valleyviewrc.com/optogaskill.pdf Last edited by Wingman26; 08-27-2009 at 02:01 PM. |

Well, answered my own question on the opto kill switch. After looking at the diagram again, it made sense. When you lay out the diagram, the black goes to the outside. Hooked the kill up to my "H" switch on the transmitter and we have ignition or kill. Waiting now for new 2500 nmh to charge up for ignition.

Saw a thread on this kill switch and one flyer put it on the trainer switch to activate the engine cutoff. I went with the "H" switch. This way, when I kill the engine, the power is off. Of course, when I land, the switch that powers the battery will have to be turned off as well. In other words, I have two on/ off switches on side of plane for power and the H switch to kill motor in the air or on the ground. If you don't have a second switch for the battery, it will draw the battery down for the ignition sooner than later.

Okay; got everything working and fueled up the tank and we have ignition. Once the low idle was adjusted, this engine has got a wow factor. Really impressed with the torque and throttle response. Just hope I can hold the wings on this baby. Went 32 to 1 ratio on Lawn Boy oil and once a couple of gallons have been run through, will go to Amsoil Saber at 50 to 1. Will post pictures later when I get her to the field for a test run.

Thanks, Andre. |
