Well, this is the first flight today of the 540. The engine quit over the corn and guess what???? Yours truely waded in about 200' and with my buddy working the servos, found the plane unhurt and ready to go again. A slight malfuntion of pilot error in not securing the fuel line in the tank. Oh well. Wet, dirty and happy to find plane okay, went and flew again after several modifications.

After a successful second maiden flight, the pilot and observer take a slight bow to show their respect for the plane. The vertical is almost unlimited and this plane has the power it needs to get you out of trouble if needed. Very happy and like a couple of posts before, choke engine and full throttle, no ignition and flip prop about 6 times. Carb wet, go to quarter throttle, ignition and you have it running with a few more flips. Ran the engine rich and over the next few flights, will start to lean it out. Very happy with engine and performance of plane. A big thank you to Ron at Southeast Engines and my buddy and fellow rc'er Robert.

Picture of the plane ready to rock and roll. Running a 16 X 6 Bambula prop for break in. Need to get a spinner to finish this plane off. Anyone know what size thread in the shaft for attaching spinner? Tried a 4mm, but no cigar.

Hmm, I thought the end of the propshaft was drilled for a 4mm x .70 bolt.

BTW, I just bolted the engine into the Frenzy, and if the plane was any narrower, I'd have to use a glow motor. lol

The end of the prop shaft is drilled and tapped for a 4mm x .7 bolt but they are not very good at cleaning out the threads, use a tap to clean the threads out and a 4mm bolt will work fine.

Thanks Jody and Anderson; I thought it was as well, but when I tried it, it did not feel right. Will clean out the threads. Dropped an email to Dave Brown on spinner. Not sure if he has a Bambula prop to use as reference?

Thanks again, Joe

Get a picture up on the Frenzy! The plane does have a narrow snout. The 540 weight was at 9.46 lbs and had to do a click left aileron and a click down elevator. Was impressed!

That is close for sure. We will have to meet up in TN in a couple of weeks. Bringing the Edge, as the Bucker will not be ready. Bummer! Go TITAN'S!

The Frenzy is finished. It came out nose-heavy and took a substantial battery to balance it out... we'll see how this goes. Gonna try to her maiden today!

Pics later.

Alright, no flying pics...maybe next time. Maybe some cowl shots? lol

Anyways, today didn't go smoothly, but the plane flies alright. Fully assembled, the plane balanced out very nose heavy. I placed the Rx battery in the area somewhere behind the canopy, and the CG was right around 5.5 inches. I will move the pack even further back soon. Well anyways, I had the plane setup on the bench and started the engine. I put a new carb on it, so I had to re-tune the engine. Everything was working fine until the engine just died and refused to start. So, I gave up and went home, I looked everything over and couldn't find anything wrong, and to my surprise the engine started at my house...so I went back to the field to fly. Well the plane was being a douchebag and refused to start again... Long story short, it was a broken solder joint on the ignition kill (42% products).

Yea, the pictures are pretty retarded.

Current prop is an APC 17X6... 9,100 RPM.
Carb is a Walbro WT-745.
Running Pennzoil 40:1 on 87 Shell gas. TMI?

Will switch to Xoar 18x6 or equivalent Vess. Currently, the engine hauls around the Frenzy great. Pullout from a hover is good, allowing immediate punchout. The wing area supports the engine well and allows for slow landings, although you do feel the weight of the engine while flying. Had I used lighter batts. I think it would be perfect...
