I spread the engine last night, specifically the crankcase. plunger appear to be OK. the first examination, it appears as was done playing the rod, namely the rod bearing and main axis.

Today I sent the engine to guarantee to remedy the defect, or to change the engine with a new one.

Hopefully, they will take care of you. Let us know on a follow up. I have been happy with mine so far. Heading up to TN on Thursday and bringing the rocket with me!

Can't wait to meet ya, Joe. You picked a good time to come up! I think the monsoon season is over in Tennessee.

Hi Anderson; Yea, looking at the weather, looks like it will be a great time up there. Cool and everything! Looking forward to meeting you as well. Maybe you can pass some of those quick thumbs to me! ha ha. Still trying to figure how to carry this plane, but it is coming for sure. Will put it on charge tomorrow and head out to the field on Saturday. Will you be at Middle Point or Cain Ridge? Check out the new pics on my page of my buddies new 28% YAK. He and I are members of the Okeechobee RC Club. He can make them talk and he is meticulous in his builds, etc.

Regards,

Joe

I spent the last two days reading this forum. You guys really have me excited about this engine. Here is the bird I just bought for this engine.

Now I need to get busy putting it all together.

Good luck, as you will love this engine. Plenty of power and as long as you stay within 10lb range, you will be fine.

Today I received the engine from service. unfortunately could not be repaired. for various reasons no longer necessary compression, although no traces of wear on the inside. therefore, have changed the engine used with a new one

This is driving me nuts! I am not able to set a reliable idle. Every time I go from low to high throttle and then low again, it is either too high (in the 3000s) or too low and stops. At first I thought it was a servo or linkage problem but I can clearly see the position of the throttle at the carb is always the same while the idle rpm go, as explained before, from too high to too low. I checked for possible air leaks and everything seems to be OK. I must add that this only started recently.

I'm interested in the solution as well. Mine is a little high right now...

Check for dirt in the screen in the carb.

I used this article as a guide: http://www.geistware.com/rcmodeling/...ine_tune_1.htm
and my engine is doing much better. I set the needle valve lever a tiny bit lower. This has made the idle more consistent. On the other hand, the engine is a little harder to start when cold and top end turned slightly leaner (I had to compensate by opening the high needle a little). I am going to keep it like this for now since I have other issues like end play that may require more extensive repairs, if it's worth it.

Nice informative article. Good luck on your engine. I have found that when cold, I choke carb and flip prop 6 times with ignition off and throttle wide open. This wets the carb. Then go to quarter throttle, no choke and ignition. Usually, second flip of the prop and it barks and by the 4th it fires. I do flip the prop with purpose. Don't baby it. Engine has been really great to start since I have used this procedure. I am located down below you in Okeechobee, so elevation is about the same. However, I use the same procedure up here in TN this past few weeks and no problem as well.
