I had some communication problems that slowed down the new ignition, but Jody came through and I received an RC EXL ignition yesterday in the mail, installed it and timed it yesterday evening and finally go to test run it late this afternoon.
Runs like a champ!

OK, here's a little video, I know the top end is good, but I wanted to ask how the transition between idle and high speed, it sounds good to me, so the question is do I need to work on the mixture to improve the transition? It sounds good to me, I just wanted to get a second or third opinion about the carb adjustments before I button it up completely.

A 17x6 is a good one for that engine, but you might want an 18" prop on that Cub.

Just a wee story of my CRRC PRO 26Got my engine very much brand-new and still breaking it in! #1 got started using a 16/8 APC prop and using 26/1 oil/gas low ash - Engine was easy to start and ran great after about 3 x 10oz tanks things were fine got low end adjusted idle smooth and happy - Flew model got about 6 flights in. #2 Took prop off to add a spinner - Dang thing wouldn't hand start after that very frustrating - Got her going only with starter borrowed from a buddy. #3 To make a long story short - Checked everything did the following! A - tighten-up the carb holddown screws B - Remove plug found to be black - Gave it a good clean C - With the plug out but connected to see spark spun prop till spark - Noted spark happened at same spot everytime - There is a small flat spot on the rear of the prop hub Marks the spark exactly - I marked this with a marker to make it easy to find - Removed prop and reinstalled 90 degrees from the mark on hub. #4 Engine hand choked till fuel was in fuel line - Put on choke flipped till engine popped good - choke off engine hand started like a dream. - I think where the prop sits on hub is a biggy for spark to get best speed and torque for easy hand starting from the pilot flipping it!!!!! |

The weather around here has been absolutely terrible, T storms, wind, rain, now a heat wave and more wind. Got out this morning to beat the heat and hopefully fly before the wind got up, did the maiden flight on my Extra 260 from Wild Hare, engine started easily and ran great! Unfortunately the wind got up early, it was marginal at best for the wind, blown around somewhat, and the pucker factor on final was pretty high, when the wind picks up a wing and the airplane wing is at 90 degrees about 15' off the ground, it was almost too much to handle, the landing wasn't pretty but no harm to the plane, so I decided to quit while I was ahead, just too much wind to risk another flight today.

Have about three gallons run throgh my new 26i and have been having continous starting issues. At the point now of it takes about 5-10 mins to get it to run. Will not run with a starter. At least the last time I tried. Begin flipping wet then full choke and flip till it fires. Turn off choke and have max 1/3 throttle and flip. If it does not fire then rechoke and repeat. When it does eventually fire it will run for 2-5 secs and die instantly. This happens half dozen times or so. Have good spark with good voltage at battery and fuel seems to flow easily. After it starts and continues to run it runs well but has begun spitting a couple times the last couple flights. Has dead sticked 4 times so far from stalling in mid flight. Had the carb apart and all is clean.Any thoughts or questions that may help are very welcome.

Do you think that this engine will work/fit on my Hangar 9 Blue Nose P-51. I would like to try it if it will!!
Here is a link to the specs on my plane: Hangar 9 Blue Nose P-51 Specs It calls for a 20cc gas but I am not for sure how much difference there is in size of the two engines. Thanks in advance |

I also looked around but couldn't find the overall dimension measurements for this engine either.

you could probably squeeze a CRRC 26 cc in there but they are recomending the Saito FS 20cc gas engine, that palne is a littel small for the CRRC 26cc |

I don't think putting this engine on the blue nose is a good idea...
