Hey, your the man, Mattbogy, your 2 videos are awsome

They show just how much power this little 26cc engine can produce. What prop are you using???

Now I can't hardly wait to get mine in the air this weekend.

Running Xoar 18x6 wooden prop for best slow speed manuvers and static thrust. Was turning 8000 RPM last time I checked. I hope to improve that number by 200 to 300 RPM once I get a couple of hours on the engine. I have a close friend running a YS140 Sport in an Extreme Flight Yak turning the same prop @ 8500 RPM. I also have a buddy with a Saito180 who will be running the same prop. So far I don't see any advantage to Glow other than a few hundred RPM.

Mattbogy, thats pretty good number for a 26cc turning a XOAR 18 X 6 .

My 26 cc was turning 8430 rpm with a XOAR 17 X 6 last time I checked it. After we run a couple gallons of fuel through these engines I think they will turn a 18 X 6 about same RPMs as your friends glow engines.

I sure wish I wasn't away working when all this was happening........... seems I was to late to be the other "outside US" tester. I suspect this would have been a very nice engine for my glider tug Pawnee.
I'll just have to buy one now I guess.
Craig, what did you end up using on the 45 as a header pipe?. looks like copper in the pics.
Jim, if you end up wanting to try any other engines..........I'm keen.
cheers Wiz.

just wanting the rest of you to know about the problem as well as the factory.

Any word on this fix?

mine has failed. the ceramic insulator has come away from the metal body of the plug. you can turn the ceramic quite freely inside the body. i have ordered some NGK plugs so i can try to start this engine.

the crankshaft has also gone tight so something isnt right there either. im thinking of disassembling this engine to find the source of the "tightness" a tight engine is a sign of something wrong.

more to follow soon......

I am a little nervous about this... I am not bashing a product, but after reading about cracked crankcase or whatever, leaking seal, and now something is binding up in the bottom end... It seems like a great deal, but then I read this. Can you clear up what you have learned about this little motor? Thanks, please do not take this message wrong.. I am asking, not pointing fingers... thanks.

More raw video. I have enough footage now to edit a decent clip when I get some time. I'm not sure when to switch to synthetic on this engine. The rpm has increased 200-300 RPM to 8200-8300 on Xoar 18x6. Total of about 8ea. 10 min flights. Not sure how much time it ran on the stand beforre it was shipped.

gremlinx....

just to let you know that yes i have resolved all the afore mentioned problems with my engine. except for the very small crank in the crankcase.

the "tight" thing was found to be too much endfloat in the crank which has been cured.
the shaft seal was possibly an installation error due to no other engines having the same problem.

while you may have concerns about this engine let me once again say that this is the prototype that has been put out to a few select people for testing and evaluation. all the problems you have read about will be resolved by the time they are put onto the market.

cheers

GremlinX your concerns are are well taken. You should notice we have stated all along in this thread that these are not PRODUCTION engines for sale on the market but are preproduction PROTOTYPE engines for evaluation and debug B4 being placed on the market.

This shows the manufacturer is trying to take all the steps he can to assure a finalized defect free engine will be offered for sale once it is placed on the market. This is the same process Microsoft goes through with software by offering free BETA versions of their software B4 selling it on the market.

If you read these threads you will see the DL50 was shipped with exhaust mounting holes NOT TAPPED with threads, this IS NOT the way to gain customer confidence in a product. We should applaud CRRCpro group and Western Hobbies for taking this prototype evaluation process to ensure that future production will be defect free when eventually marketed.

I don't see you making any positive comments about the performance of this engine. You did however, misquote Hardtop about the cracked mounting lugs. What he said was the hole for the guide pin that locates the 2 crankcase halves was cracked. This is not a functional part of the engine, but an assembly aid in the manufacturing process and does not affect how the engine runs.

I received and tested one of these test engines myself and other than the ignition module problem, the engine itself has been defect free and has performed flawlessly for over 4 hours (see my prop test results).

Hi Trike, My DL50 muffler mounting holes were threaded. The engine has been tested on dyno to have much more HP than the DA50. Mine runs great after I
replaced the wimpy mini choke servo I tried to use.

I understand, and that is why I prefaced my statement. If they are prototypes sent out for testing, I would not report ANYTHING to ANYBODY... honestly...

The vid you posted looked good. Seemed to have good power....
