I had an engine that was on 45deg. from the factory. It would start Ok but sputtered and jumped really bad. Weird thing was it would smooth out on a vertical upline. Made the slots longer and timed it, and it became a well-mannered engine.

We got it solved !!!! Long story short it was timing.

Found it at an actual 46 BTDC /// OEM setting

Brought it back to around 34 to 35 ==

SOLVED !!! Maybe this info will help somebody else . GREAT MOTOR !!! Looking forward to the new twin 50 !!!

Go to office supply store and buy a $1 protractor and drill/ream it out to your prop shaft. You only need 90deg to time one. The degree wheel will work. Just have to cut out a piece of wood/plastic to mount it to. The wheel is larger and shows the degrees easier. My 26 has a 4mm hole in the fin I use it to bolt a pointer to. Never trust a new engine. Some Chinese fellow making maybe $1/hr. assembled it. Probably on piece work also. He isn't worried about the timing. I hear people talk about the "factory settings" on the carbs. No such animal. There is a suggested starting point for the jets in the instructions, but what are "factory settings".

hi.i had proplem with same engine so stripped engine found back plate scored by bigend if you look at the crankshaft webbing you will see shiney areas this is ware the conrod has been rubbing crankweb pushing out the bigend and scoring backplate i noticed in picture the bigend bearing is in the wrong way the shiney flat side faces the crankweb the outher side has 2 grooves same as conrod .I only put an hour into mine so to sort out the rubbing effect on conrod i carefully buffed the web.note when you get these engines cheap and take them apart it leaves a lot to be desired very poor quality engineering some people get good ones some bad and they say they are run before they leave the factory. But petrol is the way to go very cheap to run compared to glow fuel. regards von. t

Anyone have the bearing mfgr and model for the GF26i (not the CRRC pn)? I want to get US, Japanese or European bearings for my motor and it's currently installed in a plane, so I'd rather not pull it to dis-assemble. Tkx..

Is Tuning required?

I recently ordered the header/Canister for the CRRC PRO 26 and was wondering if required tuning of the header length? From what I've read I should get 500rpm improvement and it runs quiet.

I had a header and moose-can pipe on a .40 size 2 stroke before and it required I cut the header shorter till I got the desired RPM/throttle response.

The standard length is correct, run the header full length. You will need to tune the carb though.

What would you guys prefer for the engine mount of the V2 version, Alum or plastic? Thinking on vibration etc.
