Hey Nicetie is that you Cadillac Ken??? ( by the way I never seen you wear a tie )Happy to hear you got the choke situation cleared up.

You evidently received an engine (DL50) that went thru a complete QC unlike the guy who reported his had one muffler mtg hole unthreaded. No doubt your engine runs good, but my point is these littlle problems that don't get caught in this Chinese factory's QC process gives all Chinese engines a bad reputation.

Once the Chinese factories get their internal QC and final inspection up to the same level as their casting and machining ability they will own this RC engine business.

GremlinX I may have miss spoken when I called these engines prototypes. They may better be called
pre-production engines. Just Like Microsoft issues BETA versions of its software to end users so they can try it out and kick around to see if they can find anything thats needs improving B4 releasing for mass production, CRRCpro decided to have some random selected end users try out this new engine and report GOOD or BAD what they experienced using this engine B$ they make a bunch of them and sell on the market.

A recent review by a major RC magazine comes to mind of a gasser made in Brazil where the manufacturer supplied the magazine a preproduction engine to the magazine for review. Several issues with the quality were noted by the reviewer and unless this manufacturer is brain dead, these issues will all be corrected on subsequently produced engines.

This is how our hobby makes progress and our suppliers stay in business so they can offer us a quality product at a reasonable price.

Yeah, It's me. If you go to my funeral, you MIGHT see me wear a tie!

If the chinese get their QC up to Japenese standards, we will have some
engines we can truely trust.

My SK130 manual was wrong about the low speed needle setting. I took
it literally and burned the engine out. They claim a factory setting of 1 & 3/4 turns out
and 10 to 15 deg steps from there. Mine was 5 turns out and this was the RIGHT
setting! The actual setting is a 1/16" gap between needle and collar as seen through the carb with the throttle wide open.

Anyway they acknowledge this and are repairing it under warranty. Looks like
it would be a lot easier to just mark out the wrong statement and mark in the
correction or just rewrite the 4 pages and print new manuals rather than repair
no telling how many engines.

When will the Laser fly?

YEEEHAAA!!!!!!!!

i got my engine running!!!. im still using my old 45cc ignition...but i have it all working. and yes i have it running on petrol(gasoline) this time using a 25:1 mineral oil mix.

something i have noticed...my engine LOVES running backwards!!. its a effort to get it to run forwards at times. i think i have around an hour total run time now. still working out the nasty vibration but have still to re-work the woodruff key in the hope that its the problem.

i have a video clip of it running but cant get it off my phone...will try and get it on here ASAP.

next step is to get my airframe up to speed ready for this engine.

cheers

I keep asking myself the same question Rede2fly. Mattbogy has a a couple videos posted on earlier page of his flying.

I am having problem programing the Spektrum DX7 to operate 2 elevator servos together properly. Advertisement in Fly RC says radio has "servo sync" just for this purpose but it is no where in the manual. I hate to have to buy a JR matchbox to do this as it is one of the reasons I bought the radio.

Hey Hardtop, do you have your initital timing correct??? It sounds to retarded so it starts backwards. As Jim at Western Hobbies about it. I have to tell you in over 4 hours of running and I don't know how many starts my 26 has NEVER started backwards!! It usually starts on first or second flip once warmed up. The first cold start may take 3 or 4 flips depending on how ell I have it primed.

Nicetie it is good to hear they will repair your 1.30 under warranty, but you should switch to one of these 26 cc gassers, cheaper to run and more power.

Sorry for the delay in getting the Laser in the air. IF the weather hold out and IF I can get the elevator servos programed the laser will fly this weekend. We are supposed to have rain again with 48 degrees according to weather forecast.

TrikeFlyer, Maybe you remember when I was trying to get my elevators to work
with the DX7. You have already used the available function if you are using split
ailerons without a Y cable. You will have to run the elevators with a Y reverser or do it mechanically. The ads and the manual are misleading.

hey trike.....

im using my old GF45 CDI unit at the moment....i think this may be the reason. i got an email from Yong at the factory telling me that the new CDI's are on their way....maybe once i get it the "starts backwards" thing won't be a problem.

im hoping that the new CDI's are "hand start friendly".....got very sore fingers last time i tried to start this engine with the supplied module. the factory is still quoting 40 degrees as correct timing too.

as for your radio problem......doesn't the dx7 have some free programable mixers?? even if your using a 2nd channel for your ailerons you should still be able to use another spare channel for your elevators....it after all a 7 channel radio. from what i have worked out you will be using 6 channels in total with 2 servos used for both ailerons and elevators.

cheers

Hope your fingers recover Hardtop, had the same thing happen with Ryobi 31cc and CH fixed ignition.

Yep, I would like to get the new ignition for my 26 also, but in mean time have been doing great with substitute auto-advance unit from another engine.

Here is web site sent to me my another member and has everything you ever wanted to know about programming the DX7, and yes it will support 2 aileron and 2 elevator servos with Y or reverser.

This info has kept me from tearing my hair out trying to program this DX7 to do what I want. Thank goodness for the members in the other areas of this forum and their quick response
to my question about how to properly program my DX7 for dual ailerons and dual elevator servos.

Default Underscore in URL not working

Trike, this forum isn't allowing the underscore in the URL. I tried to post it and
it won't work. The forum accepts underscore, but not in a URL??? Forum needs repair. Is there a moderator with administrator permission to fix it?

heya trike.....

ive been looking at the manual for the spektrum dx7 here. i found that on page 56 it mentions about using 2 servos on 2 channels. its in the programable mixing 1-6.

if you use mix number 5 or 6 you will have a "dual servo trim function" where a primary control surface trim will control the slave servo.

i have used this programming myself on my JR 9XII radio...its the same as the dx7 (the dx7 programming is the same as JR anyways)

thought this may help

cheers

also......

you can use separate channels for dual servo setups like ailerons and elevators....no need for y leads and reversers etc

cheers
