Default SkyShark Christen Eagle

Ok so I gave in and bought the SkyShark Christen Eagle. I really like Christen Eagles mainly because they look cool. It was more of a motivation for me to get started on my Frank Knoll kit.

So I am debating on what to power it with. I am ditching the stock wheels that come with it and seem to weigh a pound. My engine choices so far have been:

1. Saito 180 or 220
2. ZDZ 40
3. DA 50
4. Brillelli 46GT

I could go with a larger engine but I am trying to get the most power to weight ratio here. I would like to be able to hover this thing and do a lot of tumbles (which CE's do well).

Any input or suggestions from people who have flown this plane would be great. I have owned and flown 2 of the Great Planes Eagles and was not pleased.

From what I have read and looking at the plans the Frank Knoll kit should be an awesome flying plane.

Can't give any advise. Just bought the same one on ebay a couple of days ago. Haven't got it yet. I'm leaning towards the 180 myself, the da is a little pricey for me. I'm still doing research on this plane. Found a couple articles.http://findarticles.com/p/articles/m...n15325645/pg_1 and a thread at rc universe that might help. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_24..._1/key_/tm.htm ,I 'm trying to keep the weight down on the engine, would like to keep servo's inside for appearance as oposed to tail mounting. Hope to hear from someone on your thread soon.

Christen Eagle's have always been my favorite airplane. I've owned several kinds starting with the Bryon and the most recent being the GP. The Great Planes version was an excellent flying airplane and I actually miss it quite a bit. I had an FPE 3.2 in mine and it would hover/TR quite well. No bad tendency's. The Bryone was another story. I've done alot of reading on the Skyshark and that one too seems to be a very good flying airplane.

If I remember the Skyshark is just a tad smaller then the GP so I would probably say the Saito 1.80 is gonna be a better choice then a gasser.

Dug up a couple of pics of my Bryon from about 15 years ago.

You are correct Jeeum the skyshark is slightly smaller than the GP version i think by an inch or two. I am currently building the skyshark, not much left for completion, and I will be slapping on a brison 3.2 on the front. mainly because thats what i had around for a powerplant. hope it will be a blast to fly. Good luck on your build with your new skyshark!

Im thinking Saito 220 or YS 160 over the Saito 180. If the AUW is going to be over 12lbs then the power wont be awesome with the 180.
