skymaster, how much did the paint cost and how much weight did it add? I am thinking about doing the same scheme on my 3m 260.

dubd, it will cost about $500 Usd, I have have not weigh it yet cause is not finish.
the guy that paints it paint all the Harley's some real airplanes and helicopters.
In the cowl there would be flames with the DA sign(I'm not so sure of the DA maybe it will be too much I have to decide that today so fell free to comment), on ruder a Chilean flag and in he bottom of fuselage... I don't know how it's called but here goes an example.
Next week I'll start the building proses and weight all parts.
It'll have
DA 100 stock mufflers
HITECS 5945
5995 ON RUDD AND ELEV
FROMECOS
SMART FLY
ETC

It's actually surprising how little weight you to add to these if your frugal with the paint.

The 2.6 custom YAK we done (RIP) had something like 350 grams added with the paint job. It used a lot of the white base coat and light orange and yellow semi transparent airbrush work.

The PITTS S12 took on nearly 700 grams and it used nothing of the white base coat. It is dark blue with yellows and orange on the under surfaces. Lots of airbrush but two coats of lacquer to get that deep look.

The real weight in painting is the lacquer. If you want a paint scheme that looks 6 inches deep then your going to load it up badly. But if you keep your scheme to a style that only needs polishing to set it off you can get away with two coats and lot of elbow grease.
