Don't worry about breaking in the engine. Once you get it straightened out at DA, strap it on to the plane. Mix up your gas and start flying. Just make sure you don't do any hovering right off the bat and lay off the full throttle 10 minute passes and you'll be set.

The DA's are not as finicky when it comes to breaking in. Just flip it and fly it.

I will do just that. Since this was my first Big engine, I was amazed at how much power the prop blast was putting out. I can only imagine whata 150 or 200 puts out. It sounded almost like my Lycoming 180 on the old '47 Stinson. thanks all.

Is that motor new or is it used?
That should help shed some light.

vernonf, good luck. i think you will be very happy with da's service and your new motor when you get it going.
as for a couple others on this thread it seems if some one has any thing bad to say about loved brands the insults start flowing. this is a great forum but some people are making it sound like a snob club and if any one is new or has a problem with there favorite brands they get flamed or the dead horse thing is used. why can't we just let people say what they have to say and if we can help do so. if we don't like the thread don't read it and don't comment.

Not a problem, I have received an apology . I know through the years at different clubs , people tend to keep to themselves and not even say hello. I am not one of those types. I love the hobby and welcome all that are interested in the subject. I was quite surprised at the last Turbine jet ralley. I kinda figured the guys would be snobbish. Man, was I wrong. These guys ,local and from afar, took me in , answered questions and invited me out to the party that night. I learned a ton!

Where does Chip Hyde hang out. I met that little kid at the AMPS field when he was 10 years old. I bet he could wring my Carden Cap out!

I think there was some misunderstanding because a couple similar threads popped up today. Just raised a couple eyebrows. Everything is fine though. Please keep us updated, I'm keenly interested to see what the problem is.

It really bugs me a guy gets on this website for help and people jump in here and start suggesting troll right off the bat. If you guys are questioning the legitimacy of this man then take it up with the mod's in a PM. I think lately people here have been to damn short fused, and to quick to take offense to someone having a problem with a brand they love. The poor guy is not on here slamming how bad your wife is in the sack. Its just a damn motor so chill the hell out. He is on here just asking for help. Yea it's odd to see a company as good as DA have two posts in such a short time period but take it up privately with the mods before you discourage a person from asking for help. I don't see how that is keeping a enviroment that is going to be inviting to new members. Can't we all just play nice?

Show of hands. Who here buys a new car, goes home, tears out the engine and runs it on the bench to break it in????

Same guys who think they need to break in a gas airplane engine.
