You can drop by their office unannounced and they will help you. I go in there all the time (last friday as a matter of fact).

[quote=vernonf;193473]I will talk to DA and follow their instructions. I will try to drive it down to Tucson in the morning. Their website says office visits by appointment only. So if anyone from DA is viewing this. Please let me know if visiting to drop off the engine is ok.

Now I think thats going to far. Not everyone is an expert. Most of us started with glow engines. Natural progression of logic is to break in the next motor on a test stand. How about helping and not attacking?

Funny thing about all this is the originator of this thread seems to be less offended then the other guys.

Vernon, don't worry about it man. Have the DA boys take a look at it. They'll take care of you 110% and have you in the air in no time.

I want to thank all you guys on this website that helped out.

I drove to Desert Aircraft today and the were the BEST !!! I have had good service from a few company's before, But NEVER like the quality and service of DESERT AIRCRAFT. Dave, DA, called me on the phone and said to come on it, they would take care of me. Wow, they took the engine and checked it out, it did overheat. they replaced the rear cylinder and piston assembly. Checked the carb . cleaned reasembled and bench tested it. Runs great !. The part that Blew me away was no cost for the repair. I got the nickle tour. Great , immaculate facility. Professionals all the way. I was out in 1 hour flat! I was a little tongue tied, a little shock at they kindness and generousity. I hope to pass along their business to everyone I see. I will only buy DA products from now on. What a day!
Just thought I would pass this info along as soon as I could.
Thank you all, and Special Thanks, to Dave, and all the DA Staff!

They have been great to me too. I recently had an experience with them that I have to report.

I have a DA-100 that runs great on the ground but poor in the air, especially in transition and top-end power. I tried every known fix involving the static pressure port and diaphrams... none worked.

I sent it in and they couldn't duplicate it on the test stand... just like me. So... they took the time to bolt it up to one of their planes and go fly it. The problem became immediately apparent to them. They replaced the carb and sent it back to me no charge.

What other company will go through all the hassle of flying your engine to troubleshoot? I'm thinking they must be pretty bored... engines are so good they don't get many back to work on

i may not post as much as most of ya'll but just in reading this i think some ppl need to go back to a trainer because they are not adult enough to fly the planes they do. i mean this is a hobby and is suppost to be fun and ppl who run off at the mouth just because someone disagrees with them is a black eye to the enjoyment of the fun part of flying. i am not a da person and i am not a big 3d person i just like flying to relax and to spend time with my friends and my family. i have been flying for 22 years and i am not the master of the hobbie, no one is a master they are just good in what the know. but i am not a newbee eather and if i was and i was treated like some ppl are treating this guy i would be asking if i should be doing this stuff... and as far as ppl jumping him for bench testing it i beleave he said and i qoute (((""" they Checked the carb . cleaned reasembled and bench tested it. Runs great !. "") they did the same thing. so instead of jumping down on a person who may not have done it the right way, we as a group of fellow rc'ers need to help and explane in a nice way what the is the proper way to do things are and offer help not a hard time. and make the sport of flying fun not a chour........

Vern - good on you and DA for helping you out!

I have had Unbelievable service from DA and also from F.P.E - totally gone out of their way outstanding service. I have had really good service from RCS and Horizon too.

Really I think most of the RC engine manufacturers are good and we are all lucky.

But no doubt DA is the stand out - they really go above and beyond.
