Default Sachs 2.0 on a 60-90 size Edge 540?

Hi All
Here's a project on the bench right now. It's an AeroWorks 60-90 size Edge 540 with 65.25" wingspan & about 750 sq inches of wing area. The plane looks like a very solid construction (although I don't think they are being sold anymore.)
I've seen people putting from 100-180 4 strokes on them - how would a Sachs 2.0 gasser work? The motor fits nice on the motor plate, but I haven't tried any balance tests.

Anyone tried something like this (small gasser plane?) Any thoughts?

Thanks
Terry

Here's some pictures of the project. Any thoughts??

We have it pretty much ready for the 1st flight, but just need the right weather & some free time. Weighed on a bathroom scale, it looks to be around 9 lbs. The Sachs 2.0 cu-in motor is swinging a 18-8 prop around 6800 rpm. Time will tell if & how it works

Thanks
Terry

Hey - we just put a Sachs 2.6 on a AeroWorks 80" profile. Haven't flown it yet, but it would spin a 20x6 like nothing!

I've got a G-38 on my 80" profile & it's working pretty good. His should smoke me on the hover pull out though!

Thanks
Terry

Some useless information If the "need" should ever arrise you can reduce engine weight and up the power by switching the cylinder and piston to a 2.4 set. They will bolt on.

Thanks for the info. If this doesn't work out too well, who knows. Actually there's two of the little 2.0 Sachs motors. There's a P-38 hanging from Brian's rafters that they were intended for. Retracts and everything is in it - just needs some TLC and it would be ready to go. It's made to look like the Reno racing P-38. Should sound cool if nothing else!!!

Hi All
Due to the windy weather around here in the spring, the test flight kept getting delayed... till today. It was almost perfect today for the club meeting - calm, mid 70's and sunny - yeah! The mini-gasser flew pretty good. It wasn't quite light light feeling like the 30% with a 50cc in it, but it worked. It really felt much lighter than I thought it would. The Edge did keep sailing down the runway for a landing, which is a indication of a heavy plane as I understand.
The power was something else. It would about jump with blips of the throttle taxiing out for takeoff. An 18" prop on a 60-90 sized plane has to do something! The engine was not running good (3 dead stick landings.) On the third flight, it was running much better though & it did a sweet blender that stopped, spun at the same altitude for a few seconds & then started climbing! Neat!
We need to put some more flights on it and get a better feel. It would break when full elevator was applied, but didn't drop one wing and spin - it wound sort of just break it's heading for a second, bite into the air and try again. Not whipping into a spin (like my Funtana 40 seems to like to do) is a plus!
No pictures - couldn't find the camera (and forgot some other neccesary stuff like a Lipo for the electric plane, starter for the chopper & glove for starting the gasser - uuuuuuuuh?)

Thanks
Terry
